I wouldn't give up!!!

Go here:

http://www.vethealth.cio.med.va.gov/atomicvets.htm

and go thru the "guidebooks" and see if yer issues fit in anywhere.

Have ya filed a claim for service connection yet?? Or is it just VA healthcare saying "yer cancer has no relation to being exposed to A Bomb testing".

Thats kinda 2 seperate things and one may not necessarily have anything ta do with the other.

The VA has a long and storied history of just flat being in denial of certain things vets were exposed to in time of service as being service connected.

Agent Orange is a big one, Hearing's another one, as is Atomic Veterans.

So before ya give up totally I think it would be in yer best interest to at least do some more research. Type "Atomic Veterans" into yer favorite online search engine and you gonna finds tons of info and websites that might help ya Best of Luck!!!-JRC

Ya also might wanna go here:

http://www1.va.gov/irad/

and read some of the "newsletters". The sept '06 "newsletter" has a list of "presumptive" cancers directly related to Exposure to radiation, is your condition on that list??

If so, that pretty much means you "automatically" qualify for service connection-JRC

Hi Don,
Try this site I just became aware of.
http://www.vbdr.org/

Here is also one important link I found there amoung many more.
http://www.vbdr.org/news/2006/..._Recommendations.pdf

You may remember me from Leukemia and Cancer in Loran posts I was on Eniwetok 1969/1970 for a year.
I will post this information there also for Joe Jester and Chuck Severance who have been very big in helping us and others.

Good luck,
Don Wheeler

The July 1995 edition has an article concerning Coast Guardsmen and testing during that timeframe.

ATOMIC VETERANS HAVE BEEN GETTING THE DIRTY END OF THE STICK SINCE WE HAD THE TESTING OF THESE WEAPONS. TRUTH BE KNOWN, MY SHOT BADGER SHOWED ITSELF AT 0435 ON APRIL 18 1953 AT CAMP DESERT ROCK. MY FIRST PROBLEM" A HEART ATTACK IN THE SUMMER OF 1974 21 YEARS AFTER THE FACT. THAT 20 TO 30 YEAR RANGE FOR THE FIRST ONE TO APPEAR IS IN THAT RANGE FOR MOST. ONE OF THE EARLY OPEN HEART SURGERY'S WAS DONE ON ME IN JULY OF 1975 IN BURLINGTON VERMONT HOSPITAL. IT WAS A TRIPLE. ABOUT 20 YEARS LATER ANOTHER TRIPLE HAD TO BE DONE. NOT ANOTHER CHANCE FOR THE TRIFECTA. THEN IN SERIES: A TOTAL KNEE REPLACED IN 96 AFTER THE THE SECOND HEART SURGERY. PROSTATE GLAND WAS REMOVED IN OCT. 1997. IT WASN'T EVEN PRESUMPTIVE TO LATER ON. I HAD A CANCEROUS TUMOR AND SIX INCHES OF COLON REMOVED ON MARCH 3,1998. WE HAD HAD 7 CHILDREN UP TO THAT POINT. LOST ONE LITTLE GIRL AT 7 MONTHS IN 1957. BOTH TWIN SONS WERE OPERATED ON IN THE SAME YEAR AROUND AGE 40. ONE HAD HIS COLON TAKEN OUT. THE OTHER TWIN HAD HIS THIRD RIB BONE ON HIS RIGHT SIDE TAKEN BECAUSE OF A CANCEROUS LESION ON THAT RIB. Our fifth son was born with Vitalago and auto-immune disease and caused by radiation. two of my Grand-daughters in California with Vitalago. I got a RECA award from the Dept of Justice for the prostate Gland. as I grew older and seeing all that damage I had caused to my family. I had depression, anger and brought back things I try to forget. It hasn't got any better to say It doesn't tear me up as much as I used to when I think of all these things. So I draw 30%. I have filed at least 10 -12 Claims in my lifetime. Just waiting for a disposition of the claim is hard enough, but you already know it's just a waste of time. . Starting with the first test, they knew they were going to record our lives health history and make a data base of disability illnesses, Badger last renewal of DNA's admitted that it was a test of ionizing radiation. Hang in you folks who went under the mushroom cloud. maybe there will be final retribution for these people who made our lives so miserable.. Frank A. Bushey Lance Cpl USMC and Korean Veteran
