OK. I have been in 18 years and could make it out to 20 and do a normal retirement or I could do 100% medical retirement right now. What would be the best for me...
1- Take the 100% Medical retirement and file 100% VA disability?
2- hold out for 20 years and retire and file 100% VA disability?

- This is my choice right now. I have cancer and want to see what my best options are.. Thanks in advance fot the help

As things go right now option 2 would be a better choice. You would get retirement and VA benefits.

Option 1 would leave you with the choice of taking one or the other.

100% VA disability is not necessarily guranteed.

Why the option to finish out the 2 years? It seems odd that if they think you are 100% disabled that they would let you stay in for 2 more years.

I have my Primary Dr. and Commander are on my side for my 20 year retirement. Normally they would put me out but I have a pretty good record with everyone. They basically will milk the paperwork on the medical discharge for me..
I belive with my cancer it's going to be 100% Va.
