My husband will be 70 in June. He was disabled when he was 25 years old. He is rated as 100% totally disabled. He now has diabetes--service related and a heart condition.

The point of this letter is life insurance. He now has $10,000 in life insurance from his service policy which was converted when he was injured.

My question: IS there another policy available that I do not know about that we can purchase or that he is entitled to through VA.

Please help--a senior wife

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

The VA does not sell insurance... And quite frankly, I wouldn't think there are many companies that would write a policy to a 70 year old, even in excellent health... HOWEVER, don't take my word for it.. call around. but, in my opinion, you won't find much...

Wray... Cool

I am afraid the Wray is correct. Why would an insurance company insure anyone age 70 (short life expectancy) and much less w/ the conditions you noted? Good luck, but I wouldn't count on finding an insurance company willing to sell you a policy for him.

She might be thinking about VGLI.

From the VA's web site

"When to Apply for VGLI

You must apply within one year and 120 days from discharge"
