Guys,

Hello from the Brits to our longest standing American AlliesSmile

This is a carboat [used to be a car] that we made to raise money for Help for Heroes [for our wounded service personnel coming back from Afghanistan]. We're about to take it 30km across to Scotland and I'd be interested to know what you think her chances are...?

Included are some links to our previous two voyages on youtube - yeah we're nutty Brits but it's for a good cause have a look at the videos for yourself :coastie: - all taking place in Loyal Northern Ireland Smile

bru...... the local sheriff is going to come and "whack your pee-pee" for the hot link... city ordanance, and the sign at the head of town, says "no hot links allowed", them that dismiss/ignore the law are subject to arrest, prosecution, a fine and forced to pay the cost of all drinks at the local saloon. Then they'll most likely beat the schit out of you and run you out of town, minus any monies you may have had - oh, and they'll shoot your horse too.

I spent an entire month driving through your southern states and was overwhelmed by US hospitality. You are the friendliest country I have ever been inSmile

bru.... I did enjoy the links, pretty ballsy of those boys... best way to do lnks is to add "something" in front of, or behind to make it a "cold" link.. that way the sheriff will pay you no-nevermind, lessen ya can't pay yer tab at the local pub.
I would have liked to see/visit your country. Maybe one day, and welcome to these forums.

bru... as a side note. Over in the general forums there's a place called Cafe' Rene, drop in and introduce yourself. Here in the Social talk area the most fun areas are "The Manly Thread" - where plots against the wommenz usually takes place and "The womanly thread" is where we gather to beg the ladies for good food, goodies and help cleaning up our place... Barry and I, it is said, live as if we're in a cave or something. Do visit the General forums, Point/Counterpoint and In the News forums and do not be affraid to add your shillings worth.

Bru...... I'm computer stupid but because you're the originator of the thread I believe you can go and edit it... see what looks like a folder and a pencil erasure at the bottom right corner? Next to the yellow triangle? Go to your original post, click the erasure thingie and then you can edit those links by adding an++ or a ** in front of them.. that will make them cold. And no, the sheriff will not pull the links, they'll just make em cold for ya and jap-slap ya across the head a couple times. And you can just call me tank if you want... most do.

neatO ~ please keep us posted on your journey!! Beer

Popcorn I saw a car-boat once in Annapolis, Maryland. It looked like a 1960’s Corvair; drove out of the water, right up the ramp, and away. . .

I would rather make the trip in this.

Its a U.S. Army LARC60 amphibious lighter. About 62 ft long, 26 ft wide and 19 ft high.
Empty speed on water:7.5 mph, land 15mph. It doesn't exactly turn on a dime at 75ft.
Range on water is 75 miles, 150 miles on land.
I have ridden on them several times when I was stationed at Ft Story, Va.
