Has anyone received a French proficiency? I speak fluent French but am terrible grammatically. Looking for someone who has taken and passed the test to tell me what to expect so I know what I need to brush up on.

I'm justr curious, but how can you speak "fluent" French and be terrible grammatically? Do you mean you have a problem WRITING in French??

Thats it, I cant write well to save my life. I never really learned to speak french like in a school, I just have always known how as I was raised bi-lingual. I don't ever remember learning it, it's just always been there. Sounds odd I'm sure, but I know I have the reading and speaking skills to be a translator just not the writing ones.

The DLPT lower level tests reading comprehension and listening comprehension, not writing. For the CG Interpreter pay you need to score a 2, 2 and be in a coded billet.

Hi OSChick, I’m in the same boat as I speak but French but suck at the grammar. For those that don’t understand it is like writing. Or the use of the word writing; I use the word sometimes as a noun and sometimes as a verb and that means it is a gerund. So you may not be able to explain the correct grammatical definition of a gerund yet can still use it while speaking. C'est la même chose en Français.
Anyway my question for you is; do you have a degree? If not you could get around 18 credits via CLEP. I did and it was simple. If your like me and you learned via total immersion then go ahead and take French 1 and 2. If you understand the news and can hold a basic conversation then those two CLEPs will be easy credits for you.

Good Luck

JoJo
