Whats this I hear about retirement pay wont take effect until 55 years old for Active Duty that retires? I saw it in the commisary. If this is true, it is going to be a bad move in my opinion. Anyone else know about this?

Something like this was in the Navy times a month ago. From what i understand this has been passed around quite a few times with nothing taking hold. However, if this does happen they said that the folks in now will be "grandfathered" in and they will still be able to collect after their 20 years has past. The new people coming in would be the ones that get hurt by this. I couldn't imagine any public official would support this. But then again i cant believe some of the crap these people support.

The fact..that those in charge of changing things even think about deleting or lowering benies really is sad.

I would like to see the retirement for senators and congressmen/women change to a higher age or lower percentage..rate.

Joining the service was the best decision i ever made..but all that being said..i would not blame the adverage kid today for looking for something else..think about..your already behind the 8 ball with inflation when you get out..some of your fellow HS friends at 38 have bought and paid for a home at a lower overrall price by the time your just getting started.

well in some seninero's actually most of mine are probably dead or in jail..but thats another topic.
