saw this story.....

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080623/D91G09400.html

i know if it was BHO doing the fund raising in Saudi Arabia all kinds of quips would be floating around here....so here's my first attempt at a poll:

Question:
Should candidates hold fundraisers in foreign Countries

Choices:
Yes but only U.S. citizans and press can attend (no foreigners)
Yes let anyone attend as long as contribution rules are strickly enforced
Yes but only certain countries
No way, campaigning and fundraising should be done on U.S. soil
Don't care

Sac, enough of our country seems to be for sale that we don't need this, too!

Don't see any problem with this at all.

"The event was open to U.S. citizens living abroad. Under law, foreign nationals cannot contribute money to U.S. presidential campaigns."

Are you saying that U.S. citizens living outside the country should not have the same rights as those living here?

it's not the right to contribute that i dispute it's the open campaigning on foreign soil.....

would you also have no problem if the person campaigning was against the sitting presidents policies and said so while outside the country? (the dixie chicks argument).....or what if the candidate went to mexico to campaign to ex-pats how would you look at that?

If Americans abroad are still eligible to vote, I see no problem with candidates campaigning wherever they happen to live. I don't see a reason to include the natives of that land, though.

I like the comment about how this would be viewed if Obama were doing it, though. I can name a few people off the top of my head would would be typing, in all caps, their supposed outrage about it, and how scared we should all be. Roll Eyes
