Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ for some, a celebration of the end of the old year and the coming of the new for others, and is based of various beliefs dating back 2000 years.
Hanukkah is a celebration of miracles and the courage of a persecuted people that dates back 2000 years and the people themselves have beliefs that go even further into the past. Kwanzaa is a completely made up celebration that has been around since 1966, created by a scumbag who did prison time for torturing two women in 1970, beating them, holding them at gunpoint, and assulting them with a hot soldering iron. Ron Everett, who took the name Maulana Karenga, admits making up the holiday. "People think it's African, but it's not. I came up with Kwanzaa because Black people wouldn't celebrate it if they knew it was American. Also, I put it around Christmas because I knew that's when a lot of Bloods are partying." Funny, I thought most African-American were content to celebrate Christmas, whatever their take on the season. Now, I'll admit I don't know a ****load of African-American people. But the ones I do know celebrate Christmas, not Kwanzaa, and I hear more ******* whites mention this ******** than African-American. Yet for some reason the *****-whipped politically correct among us feel the compulsion give this ridiculous idea status as a holiday. Why is this? Is it because we are so full of white guilt we can't look a black guy in the face and say, "Sorry man, but Kwanzaa is just plain old ****ing stupid." I want to plan my own Kwanzaa celebration, someone please tell me how to do it. I want to be a part of this fake ass holiday. |

Dr_Funk, it does seem like a particularly silly holiday, but then I'm not much of a holiday keeper. I recommend you ignore it, it will probably go away. But, complain about it, and somebody is sure to try to defend it.

They should make some kind of site where you can search for stuff like this. I think i might try to make one, maybe I can come up with a silly name like gewgul or something like that. What do you guys think? Could I make money off something like that? |

I didn't know Kawanzaa was a recent product. The CG promoted it so I "assumed" it was a historically rooted, actual celebration from Africa. I looked it up and it was started here in the states....learn something new everyday. IAW Wiki, the creator had what I would consider a radical intent with it's creation.

‘Twas the night before Kwanzaa
And all through the ‘hood, Maulana Karenga was up to no good. He’d tortured a woman and spent time in jail. He needed a new scam that just wouldn’t fail. (“So what if I stuck some chick’s toe in a vice? Nobody said revolution was nice!”) The Sixties were over. Now what would he do? Why, he went back to school—so that’s “Dr.” to you! He once ordered shootouts at UCLA Now he teaches Black Studies just miles away. Then to top it all off, the good Doctor’s new plan Was to get rid of Christmas and **** off The Man. Karenga invented a fake holiday. He called the thing Kwanza. “Hey, what’s that you say? “You don’t get what’s ‘black’ about Maoist baloney? You say that my festival’s totally phony? “Who cares if corn isn’t an African crop? Who cares if our ‘harvest’s’ a month or two off? Who cares if Swahili’s not our mother tongue? A lie for The Cause never hurt anyone! “Umoja! Ujima! Kujichagulia, too! Collectivist crap never sounded so cool! Those guilty white liberals—easy to fool. Your kids will now celebrate Kwanzaa in school!” And we heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight: “Happy Kwanzaa to all, except if you’re white!” |

I intend to live forever. So far, so good. |
I worked with two African Americans. They didn't know the first thing about Kwanzaa. If you want to have some fun, ask those you work with or know, and see just what they know about it.
Of course you may want to bone up on it before you ask too many questions... try here: "http://www.officialkwanzaawebsite.org/index.shtml " John: ---> Just remember, anyone can edit Wiki. The CG should give some serious thought as to why they support this... Wray... |

No, that's that Swedish "Knudsen" vine, or something like that...
Kwanzaa is the river they built that bridge over during WW II, where all of the POWs whistled the Seven Dwarves' "Whistle While You Work" tune when they walked across it, or something like that... Yeah, yeah, that was it! Carpe Debier: Seize a Lager! |

The CG (or elements within) adopted it without knowing the history of it's creation. If what I read as the purpose/intent of it's creation is indeed factual....I submit someone erred in HQ when they signed off on it's adoption. The question to pose now....should someone of authority in the the CG quietly let it disappear? Whilest I'm on a soapbox....one reason I do not like govt sponsored ethinic observances is I feel they are polarizing and do not promote one country. Some say "diversity" (in this context of this subject) is good for the country. I disagree. I say it highlights our differences in ways that are not conducive to national unity. What happened to "we are all Americans"...no hyphens needed!!!?? Putting ethnic pride ahead of national pride is backwards IMO. I feel it fractures our country and that is bad. I liked it better when a person could say they are an American and that's all that had to be said. It didn't matter your color or ancestry. If you're an American, then by God you're an American! Ok...off the soapbox....back to our regularly scheduled postings. This message has been edited. Last edited by: TVCJohn, |
