Was just reading this article and noticing again Hillarys determination not to drop out, even after most people dismiss her as done, and the plain and simple facts pretty much show her race is run!!

I'm wondering how others feel on this. Is it admirable that she's refusing to give up even though her chances are next to none, or is she emmbarressing herself??

I mean I've always thought it takes a good person to admit when they've been beat so I'm not sure if this is a prideful act of a women not getting her way...or if she really does love this country so much she's determined to see this through!!

I've never been a fan of the Clintons, least of all Hillary. In fact my friends know me as the girl who dislikes her so much I'd rather see anyone in the world get in before her!!!

I think shes a fake conieving women who spells trouble with a capital T. I think she'd be the equivlent of a female democratic Bush..different policies but we'd hate her just as much in the end!!

What does everyone else think about her refusal to give up?

My belief:

It doesn't have anything to do with pride, determination, stubborness or typical emotional responses, and everything to do with politically strategic movement, political leverage, a continued fund raising effort without significant expenditure, posturing for future political favor, including positions of interest for Bill and/or herself.

I know everyone wants to assign some frivolous cause to her continuance, but I think that's silly. This is big business ... for Hillary and the DNC. She won't abandon the race until it is in HER best interest to do so. I know it's old, boring and dreary, but she isn't hurting anybody except Obama.

Understandable, considering the Clintons are known for their feriocious ambitions politically. I've always felt a little bit of a shiver down my spine at Hillary. She strikes me as the type to smile sweetly on camera and then walk off and make a cold blooded decision all in the blink of an eye!! I find her extremly fake, but then again that's most politicians.

I guess I just find it annoying..I your right on the fact that she's not so much hurting Obama as being an annoying thorn in the side for a campaign thats pretty much decided!!

Hillary clearly wants to wait until the convention in hoping that the superdelegates will throw the nomination to her on electability. Its a dashing hope at best. But she can claim when they loose the November election that "she" was the one that should have been picked, and that "she" could have won.

Either way, its a loose loose situation for Democrats. Their chance to win the election pretty much ended the day Joe Biden dropped out. Obama is a bumbeling idiot as far as I am concerned, and Hillary is too.

Soc is pretty much right on. However, do football teams quit in the 3rd quarter because they are behind by 9 points? Nope! Well, no Democrat has enough delegates to win so logic dictates no one has lost yet. Why quit when you haven’t lost?

That’s one of the problems with us today. We quit far too quickly, usually as soon as we encounter a little adversity!

I have to agree with you on this all the way. I mentioned it in an earlier post....this is the Clinton Machine we're talking about....there's a reason she is still in. We will find out exactly what it is down the road. The rules committee has a meeting coming up and she is a player on that. Watch what happens there. After that the convention. In her defense (I can't believe I'm doing this! Eek) I think she had a valid point about not getting out in June. The media took her Bobby Kennedy/June comparison out of context (even FNC!) and tried to create a story. I listened to her follow-up rational and see where she was coming from.

From a partisan viewpoint, I wouldn't vote for either Sen Clinton or Sen Obama. AA Girl characterized Sen Clinton pretty well and Sen Obama isn't experienced or savvy enough to hold that position. If I were his advisor, I'd tell him to get a few more Senatorial tours of duty under his belt then try again.

I like her staying in for the long haul. It validates Operation Chaos. Beer

Not sure yet to be honest. I'm actually an Obama fan so far.

I come from a solidly Republican family, was raised Republican in every way...but after the past eight years my views on the Republican party are rather jaded!!

But then again...my views on American politics are pretty jaded right now in general!

Yes, we do not need another Republican in office. What we need is a true conservative.

As for Sen. Clinton, she can stay in as long as she wants, it's a free country. People always complain about not having choices, then when there are 3 candidates, people want one to drop out. Just like people complain about how our country is 9 TRILLION dollars in debt, but the second Obama talks about cutting spending, people say he is going to disarm our whole military and leave us defenseless. Ashley

Can I ask what exactly you like about Obama? Trying to understand a female perspective on this.

In spite of the desire of some on the Right to see Obama and Hillary as two sides of the same coin, I'm sure the moneyed interests in Washington would MUCH rather have another Clinton Presidency than an Obama Presidency. Bill did some huge favors for corporate America while he was in office (GATT, NAFTA, the WTO, renewing Most Favored Nation trading status with China, Welfare-to-Work, etc). Just simply labelling the two Democratic contenders here as "communists" shows no knowledge of politics whatsoever. If Hillary is staying in the race, it's because the Old Guard in Washington would much rather have her than Obama. She's much more like McCain than she is Obama. I'm sure, to the Powers that Be, the same people that made sure another true grassroots candidate (Howard Dean) was summarily pushed out of the race, she'd be a much more acceptable alternative to McCain than Obama would.

Esther,

This is one of the big issues folks have with the DNC's method of running the party. You voted alright, but at the end of the day the super delegates (SD's) will make the final decision for your party. The article says they can flip-flop if they choose to. Unfortunately for you, you'll have to watch which way the wind blows.

Below is a piece from the Washington Post about SD's.

What would you expect from a party who's basic platform is.... the people NEED the government, it will take care of them, because the people can't take care of themselves.

The Clinton Family:

Just close down the entire business line.

Take away the microphones, hide the cameras, tell the Senate ushers to block off the Clinton seat.

They'll eventually go away and have only each other to argue with.

How about we get a true conservative in the
White House. Conservatism wins every time it's applied. That's why the Republican Party has been unpopular...because of their willingness to pander to the left.

Unfortunately, it's not gonna happen this time.

You are right on with this one, Speck. Remember the tax cuts for the top 1% the Left wanted, and relaxed regulations on banks, energy giants, pharmaceutical giants and insurance giants, the invasion of Iraq, and the slashing of funds to government programs for the less fortunate that all of us on the Left wanted? The Republicans TOTALLY CAVED on all of this, huh?

Big Grin Big GrinOh, god, yes! The Left has been SO pandered to by the Republican Party! You kill me, Speck, you really do. Big Grin Big Grin

Well I'm glad I could make you smile Smile

But what I said was true. The Republican party has lost its way.
