The aspiring psychiatrists were attending their first class on emotional extremes. "Just to establish some parameters," said the professor, to the student from Arkansas, "What is the opposite of joy?" "Sadness," said the student. "And the opposite of depression?" he asked of the young lady from Oklahoma. "Elation," she said. "And you sir," he said to the young man from Texas, "How about the opposite of woe?" The Texan replied, "Sir, I believe that would be 'giddy up'."

I've never been to Texas and will probably never feel the need to go either. Every thing thats good or bad in Texas, can be found in at least 20 other states. Plus, its too hot down there in the summer and no beaches except for the polluted Gulf of Mexico, who wants to swim in that garbage dump?

Actually I do for Coasties. There ain't many of us and I always feel they (us) deserve a little extra. Besides I'm happy knowing I'm doing it for a Shipmate. The next of kin are always happy to find out their loved one is being cared for by a former Coastie. The hard part is getting honors for them, It's hard for all services right now because of the war, but for us it's worse. The MSO or whatever new name they call it in Long Beach, tries hard and I thank them for it. I just wish I could do more for them..
