I went on a run this week end and saw 2 riders with a Coast Guard Riders patch. Anybody know anything about this club and how one might become affiliated? I know several coasties here on the east coast that ride and might be interested as well.

Count me in if you find a CG riding Club. A bunch of coasties going down the road on bikes would be funnier than the movie Wild Hogs.....

Get ahold of OSC James Danner - he is one of the founding members and has all the pope. My patch has a plankowner rocker. I will shoot him an email and see if he can respond in here.
Interesting! My Coastie and I are based out of Boston, living in the southern part of NH, would be interested in finding out more also, as we love to ride when he has the time off :-)

We must be close by to each other. I'm in Raymond. My buddy who lives in Maine keeps begging me to come take his bike for a few days and put some miles on it. It's an '81, Yamaha 1100 Special. I had the 850 Yamaha Special back in our riding days of high school...1981.
I've road a few times since then but never owned a bike since I mostly lived in the FL Keys. NOT a good safe place for a bike.
Talked to the Master Chief today and he said I could find out about the discussion here. Yes there is a group of Coast Guard folks nation wide who display the COLORS of the Coast Guard Riders . We even have a website coastguardriders.net We have patches large and small, T-shirts, stickers, magnets etc. All Coast Guard members active, reserve, retired, auxillary are invited to purchase a patch or whatever you want. There are no annual dues or anything like that. Simply Coasties getting together to ride. OSC Daren James and myself OSC James "Hutch" Danner started this group back in 05. Take a look at the website and make up your own minds on what you want to do.
We have a nearly new BMW 900 (police issue) The guy that had it before, had ridden it once then put it away. You can see by the engine casing on one side where he had dropped it. Other than that, apart from a little patina on the paintwork she has very few miles on her for her age. We put new tires on as the origionals had oxidized a bit. I would love to take her for a good run before the weather turns to crud.
