Mowed the lawn today and just basically cleaned the back yard. I'm getting ready to build a game room.30'X 36'. will be putting in a pool table, shuffelboard and a bar. also I'm putting in a fireplace. Contractors should start in about two weeks. I'm pretty excited about the whole project. It was a perfect day here on the Oregon coast. 60 degrees and sunny. It don't get any better than that. (That coming from a man who belives that anything over 65 degrees is not fit for human life.) Dave

a shuffleboard, like a "club" shuffleboard? Man, I miss those things ... nothing like a cold beer, a lazy day and a long, slicked-up board.

Socially,
If I had all the dimes that I'v put into those boards I could pay for this project. I do love the game. The guy who taught me to shoot used to stand ciggaretts on end and have me shoot at them with right and left hand. Great game. Dave

This weekend, I'm taking my wife up to the mountains to attend my niece's baby shower. While Billie is pursuing girl's stuff, my brother-in-law and I will be hiking into the Sierra Nevada high country to snag, eerrrrr, I mean catch some Golden Trout, take a bunch of pictures and sit around a camp fire, sipping some prime Kentucky Bourbon while bïtching and complaining about the government that evening.

Yup, life is gooooooooooooood! Cool

I'm REALLY looking forward someday to do some saltwater fly fishing in the American southeast for Tarpon. I've got to go and visit Florida sometime. That and Michigan are the only two states that I've not set foot on.

Driscoll, I look forward sometime to a New England clam back (Ipswitch Clams, of course). Smile

I will take you fly fishing for strippers and blue fish. It takes a 10# rod to turn the fish and bring em to shore. Light steel leaders for the Blue Fish. Great fun right in the surf or if your real adventurous we can swim out to the rocks in wet suits and do a little extreme fly fishing.
Be well both of you

I used to fish for Snappers, the young Blue Fish while stationed at Group Shinnicock at Hampton Bays, Long Island, NY. The best catch seemed to be at the mouth of the Shinnicock Canal.

I'm tentively planning a ROADTRIP a year from June, if all goes well and the creeks don't rise and I'm still alive, around the United States, which will include New England and Beantown in particular. Perhaps we could drop a hook then.

Got to pack for the high country. Going to be 88 today here in the flatlands of northern California which should make it rather nice up above 10,000 feet in the Desolation Wildernes above Lake Tahoe tomorrow.

Have a GREAT weekend.

Mark

You wanna see good rodeo, if you ever get a chance, go to either or both the Calgary Stampede in Alberta and the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming.

Wow, doing my resarch for this post, I see that both Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood appear together on July 21 & 22 in Cheyenne. Gotta go and purchase tickets! Cool

Hey Mark,
I did some fly fishing for blues at the tip on long island, Montauk. Excellent fishing and beautiful beaches. I got into some nice fish while I was there for a wedding . I was all alone and into fish when about twenty sandbuggys with fishermen in them came out of no where and total caos insued. Line overs everywhere and I just sat down and watched till the fish moved on and then I went back to catching stragglers. Good luck this weekend and remember its called fishing and not catching
for a reason. Cool

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Generally speaking, I try to avoid home improvements. I dont quite ever seem to get the scheme of the project, and it results in total disaster. I tried doing dry wall last year, and I mudded so much that I have a wall that looks like its growing a tumor. I still to this day stare at it hoping it just might appear normal under the right light. Ill post a list of disasterous home improvement projects if I have some time this weekend.

Last weekend I decided to burn some dead grass. Now what I had planned was burning dead grass, what actually happened was that I apparently missed the Memo about a fire watch being issued for my area, and I accidently torched a flower bed, that almost spread flames to the house.

After that, I decided to call it a day, but only after I got yelled at by the wife for burning her tree in the flower bed down. It now looks like a solid black bonzai tree with not a green thing on it. I then decided to drink a few beers, post on here, and take a nap. All in all, it was a pretty successful weekend. I wonder what this one holds in store.

I’m kinda looking forward to this weekend! Thus far, I have no appointments so I’ll probably only have to work for 8 hours or so. So, with the other time I’ll go buy some laminate flooring and a few tools and lay some floor in the basement in preparation to sell my home and find another POS that needs to be fixed. I love to find ‘em, live in ‘em, fix ‘em and flip ‘em! No capital gains to be paid and a lot of profit to be had! It’s fun and profitable. And it’s something my wife and I enjoy doing together!!

how are those work projects going. Your project militia go a lot like mine I must say. I have gotten a little crazy with my yearly burns and heavy winds during the mid day can get your attention very quickly.
Disagreed, good luck with the housing market. My brother is a builder in Marblehead and just sold two homes but the market is going south as everything in the northeast is over priced near Boston. He does knockdowns and remodeling and has done very well over the last twenty years. It has been an incredible market for builders. Its getting alot more difficult to find properties to flip and knock down. good luck
