In Butler, MO., a car dealer is offering $250 worth of free gas, or a free semi-automatic handgun (don't know make, calibre etc.) with the purchase of a new vehicle. The promotion is proving to be quite popular with 80% opting for the weapon. The weapons are not just handed out, you get a gift card to the local gunshop where you must fill out the normal background check forms as required on any gun purchase. Just thought it was interesting and worth sharing. Anyone else heard of this? http://www.kmbc.com/news/16345443/detail.html
I was headed up to Marinette and I believe I was in the Manitowac area when I hear the commercial on a local FM radio station.
Thought it was pretty funny, had to chirp my partner in the office on the Nextel to tell him about it, he's a big gun-collecting hunter/sportsman type.
I could see him getting a nice bauble for the wifey and keeping the shotgun for himself.

I wish I could catch a deal like that. My 35th anniversary is coming up. I could use a new shotgun.
Not mentioned in the article were the threats that the car company received from the tolerant crowd. The far left liberals called and threaten bodily harm to the owner. The loonies threatened legal action even though no laws were being violated.
Tolerance and acceptance my butt! It’s live by their rules or you will be threatened! I do so love tolerance.
Yesterday and again today I am doing a police detail at the local rod & gun club. They are having a machine gun shoot. People come from miles around, plunk down some serious cash just to shoot a variety of military hardware.
One guy remarked at how quickly $250 worth of 7.62mm ammo passed through a minigun. I watched folks spending hundreds of dollars each to shoot every type of automatic weapon known to man. I watched people bring their small children to watch this event. I even watched one dittzy young lady bring her German Shepard who is probably quite deaf today.
I have no problem with these weapons or their collectors. One fellow is an affable retired Coast Guard BMC. Most of them are really great folks, hospitable and respectful to all.
I must say however, they are quite surprised when I turn down their offers of shooting anything I want for free. While I will defend their right to hold this event and to own these weapons, I don't have to pretend to enjoy shooting them.
Pat, such is the joy of true freedom. Just because others want to fire weapons that the People’s Republic of Massachusetts makes illegal for the average Joe to own does not mean that you must discharge such firearms. You were free to decline and they honored your request. They didn’t make fun of you or call you names. They didn’t question your desire or try to impose their will upon you and force you to live the way they wanted you to live. They simply were surprised and accepted your will.
Now, why can’t the anti-firearms zealots honor the desire of law-abiding citizens to own whatever armament they desire to maintain legally? Why must the anti-firearm fanatics play on the fears of ignorance of others? Why do the anti-gunners bath themselves in the blood of the victims of illegal firearms abuse in order to impose their lifestyle onto innocent, law-abiding citizens? They say ‘live and let live’… as long as everyone lives by the zealot’s rules!
Look at this car company that gave away firearms. Their give-away broke ZERO laws. Yet they were threatened with violence from the anti-firearms zealots! Remember, these anti-firearm devotees want to eliminate firearms because of the violence the firearms supposedly cause yet to get rid of firearms, these same zealots threaten (and commit) violence to realize their goals. A wonderful statement of their ignorance and hypocrisy. Also, those that did not threaten violence to the car dealership said that they were going to abuse the legal system to impose their will upon others even though no laws were being violated! It just goes to show what happens when you couple hypocrisy with ignorance and intolerance.
Pat me friend, thanks for being a level-headed lefty! If more liberals were as responsible and understanding as you, I would not dislike and disrespect hypocritical liberals so much!
Of course I am being paid quite handsomely while I'm being understanding.
However, there are some incredible firearms present and i do enjoy speaking to the collectors about the pieces they have invested in. One fellow owns two of the rarest pieces around. One is a German WW1 Maxim machine gun and the other is a WWII German Sturmgewehr assault rifle. Both are amazingly well kept.
Well must put in my ear plugs and head for the range.
Pat, paid or not, you did not demand that these people knuckle under to only your way of thinking. That’s what the extreme liberal anti-firearm idiots demand. They are under the ignorant impression that making firearms illegal makes society safer (and why must they always feel obligated o make society safer?). How does that work in DC? The people that made threat towards this car dealership should end up in court fighting for their freedom! But instead, the legal system will turn a blind eye to this threat because they are too busy writing tickets for important violations like speeding and seatbelt laws!
I would have liked to check out a few of those firearms! Sounds great!!
Next year perhaps you and your lovely wife could come down here. We could have a cook out and you and I could mosey down to the gun club. I think I'll have the house put back together by then. If not you can visit me in the nut house.
Listen, I just gotta offer a disagreement in principle. I hear your synopsis of the agenda of the anti-gun left (which ain't my view - guns are just guns), but I have to view it as effective marketing. There is truth, mis-truth, hyperbole and embellishments in all kinds of legislated issues. Your viewpoint makes perfect sense to me ... but you (being the Mass. public) lost, and these weapons are now regulated (or banned or whatever).
I'm sure you would be happier if the embellishments, the "spin" wasn't there ... but it is. I can't call it hypocrisy, and I don't think you should either. You got out-marketed, and that's a shame, but those people shared a passion enough to fight to win.
This is an opinion ... don't mean nuthin, and especially when I have been instate for about ten years.
And I'm with Hooligan ... I wouldn't bother to shoot either. We had to burn off 8000 rounds of .223 at the MSO that was excess inventory. Me and LCDR Kichner, LT Weeks and others went to the range with every rifle we had. I still can't control the barrel climb up and right ...
Hey Soc, it certainly is hypocrisy. The anti-firearms crowd is the same folks (here in MA) that also preach tolerance. But they REFUSE to tolerate anything that is outside the bounds of their likes. That includes firearms and is a classic case of hypocrisy. But I understand what you are saying.
Soc, ‘outmarketed’ is not what I call the intentional infringement on freedoms! I call it hypocrisy. I call it crazy. I even call it evil. But my wife wants to stay in MA and she followed me all over the world for 18 years, so her wishes beat mine!.
You opinion does mean something to me. When you write something it forces me to examine my perspective to see if it should change. But normally my opinions are formed in my principles, so changes are rare!
“I still can't control the barrel climb up and right…”
I don't know, Dis ... I honestly don't know. I circle around this argument, trying to sample all sides. I wondered what "the worst scenario" the anti-gun crowd could say that would effectively sway a legislature - something like "Soon, all 10 year-olds will have access to automatic weapons", or some such drivel. I personally don't know an effective argument to ban auto weapons, or even sawed-off shotguns, assault weapons, etc.
I guess it's clear that your legislators were predisposed to make such a law - whether by money, or lobbyists or hookers'n'golf or whatever. But I can't see how having an agenda against guns constitutes an "intentional disregard" for your rights. If they are incapable of recognizing it as a right, then they have a rightful viewpoint to believe they have not deprived you of anything.
Sounds like splittin' hairs and such ... like I said, I don't know.
I can only suggest you do what the Dems did ... adopt a George Soros to buy your idealogy for you. Worked pretty well until he ran up against Rupert Murdoch.
Soc, it gets worse! Some of the local law enforcement officials that want to minimize firearm ownership of law-abiding citizens so they manipulate (abuse) the laws and make it difficult if not impossible to attain a new permit. They’ll open their offices for a very short time once per week so the lines are long and few people get service. And if you’re next when the time is up… TS! Come back next week!
My firearms never harmed anyone but they have put food on the tables of over a dozen families! I have given venison to ‘unfortunate’ people that I know so they can feed their families. I am sure that a deer holds them over for a while. Yet the anti-gun zealots will tell you no good comes from firearms! Now that is spin! Go figure…
Also, remember that these ‘caring folks’ have outlawed my PUMP shotgun! They called it an assault weapon! That’s why I can’t trust these evil, freedom-infringing zealots! They incrementally eliminate people's freedom and love every minute of it!
