I am currently a sophomore in high school and have been very uncaring about my grades until now.

I have at the moment a 3.2 GPA unweighted. Yes,
I am aware that it is awful.

I am luckily a sophomore so I still have 2 years to go, both of which I am planning to devote 195% effort to my grades and aiming for a flat 4.0 GPA until graduation.

(All X or AP classes)

I will have my private pilot's license next year, I have already soloed.

I am getting re involved with CAP.

I scored in the 98% percentile on my PLAN ACTs.

I am going to join my high school track team, both spring and fall.

I am in the thespian society and extremely involved in drama and stagecraft/design. And I am the senior prop-manager for the school plays. (ooooo leadership :P)

I might get involved with competitive fencing.'

EDIT: I am also extremely interested in a prep school, both AFA and third party.
EDIT2: I am the president of the school chess club. It's a little bit unofficial so I'm not sure if I could put that on my resume.

You have a shot, but I would consider joining a sports team of some sort for sure, do really well on your ACT/SAT, and get involved with some kind of volunteer or community service. Also, go ahead and put any leadership positions you can down even if it is president of the chess club.

I don't know much about the Boy Scouts program, being a woman and all, but I know that doing Scouts is always very helpful as an extracurricular activity if you can't do all of the sports and stuff with your drama schedule. You basically need to do as many activities as you can, and get your grads and SAT/ACT scores as high as possible. Then you need to get some good recommendations from teachers for your senators/representatives so that you'll get at least one of them to nominate you. Good luck!! It's better to try and fail than never to have tried at all, right? Wink

Don't go out for every activity you can, if that means you don't go far in any of them.
The academy looks for commitment and leadership in activities, over sheer number of ECs.

Also, bring up your grades as much as possible. Admissions are determined before graduation...i.e. you don't actually have 2 full years of grades to go.

Getting involved in some sort of athletics is important. About 85% of cadets lettered in a sport during HS. Most of the rest did well in non-school sports.

Would it be a good idea to attend a local college for a year or two to bring my GPA up?

It would be a better idea if you didnt get accepted right away to go to a decent school and raise your grades. Then you can possibly validate a few classes here.
