I see you have many threads about people wanting to know if they are qualified enough to get accepted to the AFA. I am not much different.

I had a slightly above average GPA in my highschool years, and I attended a blue ribbon public school. In my Junior year I went to Massanutten Military Academy and held a 4.0 perfect GPA and graduated JROTC as well as participated in many different sports and EC activities. (My rank was staff-sergeant upon graduating)

I got my GED and went to community college because I did a wilderness program in Utah and I missed alot of my senior year in high school, but learned alot of survival tactics in the program I was in. This program also enhanced my leadership abilities acquired at Massanutten.

I played many high-school and rec league sports and was fairly good at all of them. (I played professional level inline hockey as well). I was the captain of many of my teams. I have done one year at Northern Virginia Community College and have got all A's and B's, I am highly motivated and determined to get into the AFA. Please let me know what I have to do to get in the AFA, and get the most out of this thing we call life???

I also am in very good physical condition, no medical problems, but I am not sure what I got on the ACT or SAT's cause I honestly didn't take them seriously, but I took a practice ASVAB and did extremely well, almost aced it completely. Please help!!!

THANKS

just to answer any questions anyone might have.

I am 20 years old, son of a ret. Lt. Col and a son of an employee to the D.O.D., I know the armed forces, and am very confident in myself, yet feel insecure when it comes to actually getting accepted because I know they have all these systems and technicalities they use to determine if someone is qualified to be accepted. I dont know if I pass all the Academy's criteria.

Well, you have a less-than-normal situation. I'd say your A's and B's in CC help, and your athletic leadership is a huge plus.

I would contact your Admissions Liason Officer to find out more. You can find them by visiting www.academyadmissions.com.

Sound qualified to me, but you might want to figure out what you got on the ACT/SAT because those are pretty heavily weighted. The military school will help. My roommate went to college before coming here as well so dont stress about that too much.

If your goal is to go to the Academy, keep plugging away at getting accepted. If your goal is to get a commission, find a school with AFROTC and join it, or just keep your grades up, graduate and apply for OTS. AFROTC is the easier of those two options however. You can also still apply to the academy while doing the other 2 if you so choose, but you will have to do all 4 years at the academy after getting accepted.
