Hello everyone, My name is Beau McKay and have seriously been considering a career with the Coast Guard. I saw on their website that OCS is open to those who meet the requirements physically and mentally. I recently recieved my Bachelors in History with Teacher Cert and have also served with the Army Reserve including a stint in Iraq. I never really educated myself about the CG until after I signed my contract with the Army Reserve and have been kicking myself in the rear for the past 8 years lol. Anyways, my question is, what would life as an officer be like for me in the CG? What is a typicall day like. I have a strong interest in intelligence related fields, and saw that the CG has an intelligence career path. I also love being on the water. So I'm a bit confused as to which field I would be happiest in. Any information would be a tremendous help. I know this is a bit of a vague starting point, but that is due to my lack of knowledge concerning the CG in general. Thanks for your help
Maybe I can narrow the topic of the question down a bit more. What is a typical day in the Coast Guard like for Officers? Hopefully this is a bit easier to answer

Still pretty broad, approximately 4,000 Officers in the Coast Guard. Each unit is different in what Officers do on a daily basis. www.uscg.mil click on units to see the different units the CG has. CPO Kalbach
