32 years old, no prior service. Married with 3 great kids.

Education is a MBA (3.8 GPA) and 1 year of law school (still attending). I had some minor medical problems when I was younger (irritable bowel) but that has been cleared up for several years, and other than some middle age spread (working on that, don't worry Wink ) I'm in fine shape.

Took the ASVAB last year (was going to do ROTC, but it didn't work out for me) got a 98 on it.

No criminal record, no drug abuse, no alcohol, for the past five years I've worked for a Police Department as a Communications Operator and was a volunteer Fireman (as time and classwork permitted).

My only concern is that back in 2004 I had to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. No misconduct was involved, the long story short was that in 2003 we moved from where I was making $60,000 a year to where I was making $20,000 a year. After a year of trying to make ends meet and burning through my savings I realized it was a lost cause and pulled the plug. Credit should be fine now, I haven't checked it since we got our mortgage last summer.

I should clarify that I am interested in the Reserve SRDC program, and that I live in San Antonio, TX.

So, any thoughts?

Yep, start by talking with a recruiter.

1-800-GET-USCG or gocoastguard.com.

Good luck!

JerryG is correct. Only your local Recruiter can tell you if there are billets available in your area. Even if you qualify, it means nothing if there is no job for you.

Plus the bankruptcy, you need to call San Antonio's office. CPO Kalbach
