When did grammar take a back seat? I hate to sound negative, but the newer generation does not us caps, not the proper punctuation. Sorry to be so harsh, but it really saddens me to see such.

I would suggest you proofread your post before throwing stones.

To answer the question Allen, here is one place you can check. MWR

Good call, 7555925, I did miss a letter. I just find it sad that we people do not even use a capital letter to start their own name. I do not worry about a spelling error here and there, it is the concept not being proper. I guess it has become common place though.

Apparently not in English, that's for sure... Wink

I know you'll find that you should care about capital letters and spelling errors during your time in the CG.

No, the CG doesn't really have the extracurricular activities you asked about. That doesn't mean Coasties don't participate in them, just there aren't really service-wide programs like the other military services might have.

If you do get in to the CG you may have to write Engineering or Deck logs. After you rewrite them a few times because of spelling or gramer errors you may wish that you had taken the time to better prepare yourself.
Just to add if you did graduate with a 4.0 I would think that you would have gotten a higher score on your asvab, 64 isn't that great.

He is a Jock,...right? Fuubowl is my life!

Listen number guy, Join the Coast Guard for the job, not to play games.
With that being said, we have all the sporting opportunities that the other major services have. But I can tell you they take a back seat to the job.
Not too many folks here are going to be impressed with how many touchdowns you scored, or home runs you hit, or how fast you run, if you can't get the job done.

Was that one of those schools where the classwork typically included assignments involving Playdoh and elbow macaroni?

If you want respect you can start by showing people you have enough brains to communicate effectively.

Well i wasnt so good in english but the reason my GPA was so high was cause im really good at math and i understand that job is first and i always get the job done. Most of you people dont have to criticize me.Cause im sure ill get criticized in botcamp and get the picture real fast. i was just asking if theres fun activities you can do on your day off. and thank you 7555925, that website helped and for you other people that care so much about spelling ill be sure to work on it. and you punctuation freaks should work on having the common courtesy to answer a simple question.

Just in your last post I counted at least 13 grammar errors in your post. It is hard to read something and give advice when you have to study the post first to try and figure out what your trying to say. In order to get a 4.0 would you not have to have an A+ in English also. I may have to throw a B.S. Flag on this.

Why set yourself up for the criticism in boot camp then, rather then adjusting your attitude prior to reporting?

What everyone here is trying to get across to you is that written communication skills are important. Rather then get defensive try opening your mind and taking their advice.

The Coast Guard should definitely get on that. Perhaps some basketball leagues, football, baseball, whatever. That sounds like a good time.
