Basic Training |
Forgive me, for I am a first time poster. I am very eager to get into the Coast Guard (have a baby on the way
First of all, (this may be a silly question and if so, forgive me) are calculators allowed in the ASVAB or do I need to do the math on hand? Secondly, I would like to know how hard the ASVAB is for a regular A/B student. I understand that question is very vague, but what I'm trying to figure out is how hard it is and how the scoring is done. I'm very nervous about the ASVAB and want to do the best I can for me and my new family. Any help is appreciated. Thank you |

If I remember correctly:
2+5 81/9 12*4 89-4 Things like that. Nothing major. I hadn't opened a book in over two years when I took it and walked out with a 97 total score. It's basic math, on about a 6th grade level. The only part that messed me up was the electricity part. DO the practice test on Military.com, you'll do fine |

Arithmetic Reasoning AR Math Knowledge MK Paragraph Comprehension PC Word Knowledge WK Most CG jobs are based on the math/english scores, other jobs can qualifiy for with a high AFQT. The AFQT is based on the AR,MK,PC and WK scores. No calculators. CPO Kalbach |
