Your friend really needs to contact his nearest recruiter. There are alot of different variables associated with prior service applicants. Not to mention your friends time in service is only one of those variables. www.gocoastguard.com to find a recruiter. CPO Kalbach

Aloha, tell your friend to email me. I joined the Coast Guard straight from the Army while stationed in Hawaii. He can start the process while still in, I had to get a conditional release letter, so he doesn't loose any time. Long story short I worked it so my ETS from the Army was Sep 21 and I enlisted in the CG Sep 22. Anyways contact me for questions and find out if the PITSTOP program is still going. instead of doing the full CG bootcamp you only do 30 days. Chief Kalbach Correct me if something has changed.

PITSTOP is still going strong for all prior service folks, to include Coast Guard members out longer than 1 year.

The original posters friend's enlistment may not be as easy as yours however. There are always alot of different variables for prior serivce that have to be looked at. IE: time in service, MOS type, rank, etc, etc. The person's local recruiter will have the most up to date info available for enlistment. CPO Kalbach
