Is there a way to lookup cutter deployment times (like how long they are at sea), or is that not something available to find out?

* Alder (WLB-216)
* Biscayne Bay (WTGB-104)
* Bristol Bay (WTGB-102)
* Buckthorn (WLI-642)
* Hollyhock (WLB-214)
* Katmai Bay (WTGB-101)
* Mackinaw (WLBB-30)
* Mobile Bay (WTGB-103)
* Neah Bay (WTGB-105)

I was trying to find out more about those cutters in the 9th District, already been to the webpages available, but nothing to be found there. Just curious to learn everything about districts there are!

If you've already been to the website why not call them and ask what a typical patrol is like. I do believe most of them have their own webpage. Looks like you have listed bouy tenders and 140' icebreakers. Since I was on the old Mackinaw, I have some insight. None of them are gone longer than 2 months, if that. The smaller the cutter, the less time out, especially in the Great Lakes. Of course if conditions warrant, IE: heavy ice in winter, or yard time for repair, they could be away from homeport longer. Great Lakes cutters are awesome!http://www.uscg.mil/d9/D9Units.asp I know the Buckthorn doesn't go out alot. CPO Kalbach

I am at Sector Sault right now, so I am familier with a few of those boats. The Chief has a good point, the best way to find out info is call the boat. You might even be able to arrange a tour. I can tell you that since I have been here this summer, the Buckthorn and Katmai Bay have been out a few times. I am sure when the ice comes they will be out a lot more.

I can tell you when I was on the Mobile Bay The Most I seen it go for was 2-3 weeks, maybe a week or so for the winter icebreaking. just depends on how bad the ice is during winter. It also pushes a barge for Aton during the warmer weather.

Justin! way to make sk2 guy! He is right about to Mobile Bay. It's in Sturgeaon bay ,WI abut 45 minutes north of green bay. If you want to go to the city the neah bay is in Cleveland, OH. Any D9 sailor will tell ya, it's the best.
