If you want to live with mommy and daddy don't join. Get as far away from home as posible. It's going to be a new world out there go and see it.

1. Yes, but - it is unlikely that you will get stationed near home for a while. That is GOOD for you. A young military person's worst enemy is all of their friends from high school. You will have more responsibility then them, you will have likely more money than them, and (most importantly) you will be held to a MUCH higher standard of life then them.
2. Enough to rent a small apartment in the area you are stationed. What size of apartment (and eventually a townhouse) depends on your paygrade and whether or not you have any dependants. (number of dependants is irrelevant)

If that's all you have for bills, you will have no problem saving money. Whether it's a cutter or a land unit you will have a roof over your head. Live within your means and you will be fine. CPO Kalbach
