I am interested in the uscg foreign language program, but am having a lot of trouble finding information about it. I've asked my recruiter but he doesn't know anything about it. So I was wondering if anybody on here might know more. Specifically, how do you go about becoming a linguist in the uscg? And, does the coast guard send people to DLI?

I did find this link: http://www.uscg.mil/hq/CGI/Non-Resident_Training/Foreig...uage_Prog/index.html

But it just confused me.

Thanks for your help.

Have you read the FAQ, on the site you provided? It spells out how Coast Guard members request the training.

Recruiters don't recruit to this program, they recruit to the current 18 enlisted career fields, plus the 2 reserve only career fields and Officer programs.

If a Coast Guard member wants to apply they need to read the ALCOAST and follow the directions. CPO Kalbach
