what would i be doing as part of a small boat crew?

look up video's on youtube. there's lots of coast guard activities from boat patrols to turtle rescues and pollution control.

You could also look at some great CG footage at coastguardchannel.com or cgclips.com .

I have never been at a Station, but when I was a non rate I was on a ship that had three small boats (CGC Polar Star) and as a boat crew member you were in charge of doing what ever the Coxswain needed you to do.....Lookout, rigging/assisting with towing, ect., you had a set of quals to get signed off to be qualified as a boat crew member. One being qualified in First Aid/BLS.
Thats just a small tid bit....I am an HS now so, I bet there is a BM or an MK around here that could tell you. Good Luck!

Go to www.uscg.mil click on units and check out the different units. Most will have a website telling what they do for their area of operations. Here one for an example. http://www.uscg.mil/d9/grumil/ Each is different in what they do based on the area the patrol. CPO Kalbach
