i was wondering how the health service tech school is and if its a long wait to get in beacuse im debateing between that and guners mate cause if im a health service tech and i got out i would have a good skill i could use in the outside world but i i become a gunners mate it would just be a cool job but i dont know what i would do in if i decide to get out in 4 years. so im asking which job you guys think would be the best bet?
You don't have to decide, and probably shouldn't try to decide, between the two until after you're in the Coast Guard (if you qualify to apply). Call your local Recruiting Office and get your answers live and in person. There may even be another job that isn't even on your radar screen yet.
If you are unsure, then don't make a decision until you are in. That is the beauty of the Coast Guard, you can actually get to see how each job works before you make the step to get the training that will lock you into a job you "may" hate.
Once you join, you may completly change your mind and want to do something totally different. CPO Kalbach
