Yes all BAH for all the Armed Forces is the same.

BAH is based on your paygrade and dependent status only, not how long you've been in. Your years in only relates to your base pay. |

to recieve single BAH in the navy you must be atleast a paygrade of E4 with a minimum of 4 years of service or a paygrade of E5 or higher |

It's not the same for all of the branches, I guess. When I was in the Air Force they gave me single BAH as an E-4 with 3 years.

So what happens to those below E-4 when there is no living quarters at the unit? Just curious, seems there must be some frm of pay for people in that situation.

I stand corrected. I guess the Coast Guard regulations are different. Any single member can get BAH if the situation calls for it. |

Not quite everyone. Single members' E-3 and below assigned alfoat cannot get BAH. They can be in leases and a UPH. But they can't be paid the money. |

for a sea command you live on the boat or in barracks. if shore its the barracks unless they are full you can recieve BAH, whichs brings me back to the CG, do E4 with a minimum of 4 years recieve single BAH? |

Understood, MC. That's why I added the "if the situation calls for it" caveat. |

Depends on the unit, here at Tracen Pet all single permanent party members no matter of enlistment lengh or rank receive BAH. |

As said above, depends on the housing situation in the area. The USN has many bases that have a population that exceeds the entire Enlisted, Officer, (AD and Reserve), Civilian, Auxiliary workforce of the entire CG.
I do not know of any place where length of service is part of the equation. I know of places where everyone E-6 and below goes in to barracks and MAY go on a waiting list, first come first serve to move out. One year, everyone may go in to the barracks, next year, most may go out on economy. Depends on how many people move out! I know of single E-9s who were required to live in gov't housing! (and hence no BAH) We have places where the entire CG population within 100 miles is a dozen or so people. |
