It will probably be up to your CC but why would you want to watch the Patriots win.

Well, being from Pittsburgh and going through boot camp in January 1979, I didn't even get a sniff of the Dallas/Pittsburgh game; even though it was Sunday.

Just look at it as a critical part of training as it gets one used to missing many somewhat important times while underway or on watch. Wink

I can remember a CC telling us the score at the end of the game. not allowed to watch it, we were not allowed to cheer at the score either.
you got more important things to worry about then a football game.

Really? Being a Sunday and all? Boot camp is 24/7 for 8 1/2 weeks (or longer) and you'll probably never see a t.v. let alone have the time to sit and watch it.

Anyways, depending on what week of training you are in you may find out the score from the chaplain who sometimes make Wednesday night visits. I found out about the Cavs getting swept in the NBA finals last year in this fashion. You can also ask your folks in a letter, but don't have them send in any news clippings. That's a great way to get some unwanted attention.

Don't worry it will not be the only big event you will miss while being in the Guard.

We got to watch at least one game when I went through. One of my shipmates asked about it and the CC was more than happy to comply. He brought in the "TV" from his house and set it up on the quarterdeck area. We all gathered on the QD, sat around the tube and stared at the screen for the duration of the game.

Unfortunately, the "TV" was just the carton that his TV came in and the "game" was a REALLY BAD drawing by the CCs 8 year old son. (Well - it looked like it was drawn by an 8 year old, but my CC was a BM!). We sat there for three hours, 'eye's in the boat' on that drawing.

PS: Nobody EVER asked about TV again!

The only tv we saw was in medical when we were lined up to get our flu shots. I remember everyone was trying to catch a glimps of Sports Center out of the corner of our eyes haha.

I had a Sunday morning Sexton Hall watch and I remember hearing, but not seeing Mythbusters on the t.v. in the office off the quarter deck.

I guess they've since eliminated t.v.s out of medical because they weren't there as of last June and July. At least none that I remember.

Master Chief, that's a great story. The creativity of some of the CC's is really amazing.

Sure, just be prepared for the wrath of your CC's and probably the Section Commander and your shipmates if you get the whole company in trouble.

I know (and hope) you're just joking around, but remember, when you get to Cape May its all business. There is no joking around or being a smart a$$ in boot camp.

I remember being underway for the Superbowl back in '02, and they had a tape of it flown out to us with the mail. Ahh yes, brought you by your good friends at the Armed Forces Network. Not a single comercial...except for recruiting ads! hahaha

Worked midnights as a PSU 303 MARSEC team member in Saudi during ODS/S. We got one game a week on AFRTS (affectionately known as A-FARTS), and we made sure to catch all of the scores from all of the games to pass onto the guys coming in in the morning.

There were only three of us from Chi-town in the Milwaukee based PSU. I relished the morning I announced that the Bears beat the Packers.

Good times!

You can "watch" the Superbowl in boot camp much like Randle Patrick McMurphy watched baseball in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I think the closest you'll come is hearing the score and highlights on the news at breakfast the next morning.
