Well I finally got my ASVAB scores back from the Dec. 5th test at my school and scored an 82 AFQT. I'm pretty happy about it but I thought it would be a bit higher as my ACT was was in the 87th percentile. My scores...
MK-88
EL-88
GS-59 (ew)
AR-83
MC-93
AS-78 (auto and shop correct?the assembling objects wasn't on my test).

I am sure I will go AET or AMT (no doubt about it) and I know my scores qualify me for them, but I really wanted gauranteed A-school, so I wanted to really excell but don't feel as if i did. Should I retake it or do you think the A-school shouldn't be much of a problem with the above scores? I didn't know about it until the day before so there was no way I could study for it. So, if need be I think I could raise it a bit. I'm going to the recruiter ASAP, but have failed at 4 previous attempts, in that no one was there. I'm lucky though. Its only about 7 mins away Smile

If you got an 82 AFQT you have no need to retake the ASVAB. Pick up the phone and call the office, if you don't get anyone leave a message, that way you don't keep making that 7 minute trip.

BTW, you are missing some scores: VE, PC, WK

Chief - do those scores seem legit? As you know, I see a few ASVABS and have scores once that I recall being in the upper 60s, much less 70s or 80s. Did he get the right info?

Hmm, my AFQT was 99....

I went and looked up my last scores from when I had to retake my ASVAB in 2004. Unless they changed it since then, then there's something odd about those scores since mine were all from 57-71 in the sub-categories.

I promise you those are legit. I have those other scores but I didn't post them as I don't need them for AET or AMT.
VE (verbal correct?) - 84
PC- 88
WK- 76
And can someone explain to me how an Army recruiter found me changing classes with 1400 kids, called me by my nickname, and knew who I was? It doesn't bother me I just find it interesting... But he said mine was "like the highest out of the 57" at my school and calls me right after school lets out. I told him I was going USCG at school too Razz

Does anyone have any insight on the chances of garaunteed A-school? I'm going to try to go tomorrow to the recruiter. Wish me luck

Gee, if ya' took the test before 1980, you still wouldn't qualify for MENSA (AFQT of 98) ...

I'll bet the scores are in some type of raw form and not yet normalized. For right now, that AFQT is good. Even when the others scores get normalized, they will still be great.

Those scores are from the high school asvab, the recruiter still has to do a high school look up at MEPS to get the finalized breakdown.

So will my AFQT likely go down or up?
