I found out two days ago that I will be leaving for boot camp on the 27th, I have to go to meps for the day then get bused to philly airport, then bused to cape may. What do they do at meps the second go around? and what all tricks of the trade per say can you offer to be more sucessful at camp, (like make my bed the way they want and sleep on top of it then just straighten it out the next day)
Just go back a bit in this forum. There is a ton of advice given to the boots like you. One of the things they will tell you is that trying to sleep on top of your linens will get you sweating if your CC is worth his salt. So...I guess my advice is that the little cheats and half-azzing isn't really gonna get you too far.

The 2nd time at MEPS is called an Inspect, they are going to weigh you, give you a breathalyzer, and ask you in anything has changed in your health status since you were there last.
The best advice about cape may is to listen, and do exactly what they tell you to do. Don't worry about messing up, everybody does.
That first day and night will be your longest. It starts early in the morning at MEPS and it doesn't end until after midnight in Cape May. FOr the first few weeks, you'll feel like you can't do anything right. Do let that get you down, it's all part of the process. You have to be broken down before you get built back up. Stay in a positive frame of mind and do exactly what you are told and you will be fine. One more tip.... To answer a question, you say sir, yes sir or sir, no sir. To answer a command, it's sir, aye aye sir. Keep that straight and it should help you out a lot.
Sound off as loud as you possibly can. So loud that your throat hurts. It shows confidence and the CC's will tend you not give you as much personal attention. At least it worked for me.
As mentioned here before do not sleep on top of your sheets and do not try to pull any "tricks". You will be caught and you will not like what happens to you. It is possible to sleep under your sheets without messing them up by sleeping at the position of attention. You'll be doing that so much it'll be like second nature.
yea im getting bused to fort dix, fun fun, was there for a year when my dad worked for the prison there thought I would never go back guess I was wrong lol
Yeah that sucks. I assume when I go to Cape May, Im going to be bused from philly to Dix, back to Philly airport then down to Cape May. Im going to have to crisscross the whole state of NJ just because I live in Philly. should be a fun last day before starting boot camp
