Well, there is always public subsidized low income 1 bedroom apartments. Not sure, Section #8 or something like that. If you live above your means, pay the piper. BTW: I like Ed.

I like Ed too.. but, I can't feel one bnit sorry for him or all the other celebrities that have made MILLIONS and yet they are not smart enough to think of the big picture.. that being years down the road... when they are un-employed.

Proper investing, hell, with even 'improper' investing he should have been set for life... Look at Michael Jackson.. he is another one... I have no sympathy for any of 'em....

While the saying rings true that "You can't take it with you".... the alternative to that is to "save for a rainy day"... Guess they spent too much time in the desert.

[Quote] McMahon bought the six-bedroom, five-bathroom, 7,000-square-foot house in January 1990. The mansion, which is listed at $6.25 million, is in a gated hilltop section off Mulholland Drive called The Summit. Britney Spears is among his neighbors.[Quote]

Hell, a little guy like me can not even dream of something like that. Besides, what do senior citizens need with a six bedroom, five bathroom house anyway? Seems to me the max, if they sleep in seperat rooms, would be two bedrooms. Two baths are okay in case they both got to take a dump at the same time. Britney Spears is a non issue and why even mention it?

The McMahons should have downsized 25 years ago and they would not be in this pickle today. No tears will be shed by me.

I was reading my VFW magazine in 2006 and to my surprise there was an article with a picture of Ed McMahon, I never knew he was a retired Master Gunny Sgt. USMC . At least Ed doesn't have to worry about medical insurance, just the 4.4 million loan.

[QUOTE] During World War II, McMahon was trained as a United States Marines fighter pilot and also served as a flight instructor and test pilot. He was discharged in 1946, remaining in the reserves.[2]

After college, McMahon was re-activated into active Marine duty. He was sent to Korea in February 1953. He flew unarmed O-1E Bird Dogs on eighty-five tactical air control and artillery spotting missions. He remained in the Marine reserves, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard. [QUOTE]

Surprisingly enough, not many people really know about Ed being in the USMC/USMCR or the Air National Guard.

I am not sure if he was one of the original founders of "Toys for Tots", but, he was in on the ground floor. "Toys for Tots", for you people that do not know, is a USMCR program that collects toys for needy children at Christmas time. Ed was very active in that over the years. Johnny even allowed him to get his plugs in on the show.

"The McMahons should have downsized 25 years ago and they would not be in this pickle today."

I am sure the "McMahons" from 25 years ago are not the same "McMahons" today. Maybe if he kept the same wife (well there's a reduction in savings right there with a divorce, but maybe the trade off was sanity, judging from the spending habbits of his newere "model" of wife, I doubt it) and not traded up for a new Mrs. McMahon and new masion that went with her, he'd be a little better off.

But I'm sure she was worth it.....
