I assume you are reffering to the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act of 2003 (SCRA)

Do you have a specific question?

I'VE HAD A STUDENT CREDIT CARD BEFORE I JOIN THE COAST GUARD ITS INTEREST RATE IS INSANE 22% IT USE TO BE 10% BECAUSE IT WAS A STUDENT CREDIT CARD. THE CREDIT CARD WAS CHANGED FROM MBNA TO BANK OF AMERICA AND IT WAS NO LONGER A STUDENT CREDIT CARD. ITS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE AND AM TRYING TO PAY IT OFF, BUT THE INTEREST EATS UP THE MINIMUN SO I ALWAYS HAVE TO SEND EXTRA, CAN I APPLY FOR THE 6%?

I think you can qualify but there are a couple of if's.

You never want to just pay the miminum, takes years to pay off cards if you do that.

You should contact your servicing Legal Assistance Office and they can tell you how to do this. I would let you know where that was if you had a profile.

here is another source of information

Oh and by the way typing in all caps in Net Etiquette is considered shouting.

By the way - at your age and income - 22% is not insane. Also - would consider not using it as every penny put on it after you joined has zero protection under SCRA.

I beg to differ... it IS insane, and in my humble opinion, only a fool would sign up for a credit card with such a high interest rate... I think Sears and JC Penny's still have such high rates..

A precautionary word of advise.. ALWAYS, check you the interest rate prior to signing anything.. I suspect you can do a lot better, regardless of your age.

And.. if you MUST, get a card with a HIGH rate, never charge more than you can pay off within 2 months... actually that is good advise for ANY credit card.

Good luck...

Wray.. Cool

You of course are correct Wray. I guess I was trying to say without a great credit score - 22% is a realistic expectation. Understanding that - then they need to understand your advice!
