I'm not sure if any of you guys/gals know this, but oh well... I recently transferred for the third time and discovered this little bit of info...
If you have a credit card with USAA and you PCS, they will lower your interest rate to 4% for 12 months... All you have to do is call them... They also have a great relocation assistance team that will help with your move...
I have USAA for Checking, Credit Card, Car Loan, Car Inusrance and Rental Insurance. In all 5 instances it has seriously been my pleasure doing buisness with them. It still bugs me when they call me "Petty Officer" though 8). I keep asking them to call me by first name, but never works :P
Thanks for sharing this info, they just changed my rate from my PCS move last July. Also I was told if you PCS again before the 12 months are up, they will extend your 4% rate for another 12 months.
Is that only valid for the servicemen? Not wives? Just wondering....
Not real sure... We we try not to keep a balance on our cards and we just so happened to be at zero on my card as well as my wife's card at the time so I didn't ask about spouses...
The change is good for all USAA members, including spouses. We had ours lowered for the year in July 2006. It was great for the year but remember its only for the year. Ours just went back up last July.
So it takes a year to pay for some socks, a pizza, and a new CD? Rather then get excited about knocking a few points off an interest rate, pay down and eliminate the debt! Once it's paid off, use credit smartly and pay the card off each and every month.
Whether it's 4%, 7%, 12.9%, or 22.9%....it doesn't make sense to make installment payments on a t-shirt that's long faded, or a DVD that's been watched umpteen times and sits on a shelf.
Just my "two sense " 'cuz it seems pretty silly to take twelve months or longer to pay for a cheeseburger.
