From what my recruiter has said, you can either pick a job or where you want to go. But, not both. So, if it's important for you to be in CA, you might have to do another job.

if you want to go anywhere, go BM or MK. When you look on the job lists there are around 800 some BM billits, and the rest of the rates have about 100 billits open

Even if you get your preferred district you may not stay there throughout your entire enlistment.

If it is critical that you stay in Ca. then joing ANY military service may be the wrong decision.

Where do you find those job lists?

MK and BM are teh largest two rating in the CG, want to take a guess which one is quickly moving up the ladder and is primed to be the third largest?

Could it be MST?

Really? I have to admit that if the statement is accurate it is somewhat surprising. I would have expected YN or OS to be closer to #3.

Guns;
OS is the third largest and we will grow 10% next year. AMT and ET are both larger than YN and MST is another 4 ratings behind that. If MST DOUBLED in size, it would just barely become the largest by a couple of dozen people. It is likely to be the fastest growing one, but a long way to grow to be that big.

BM ~5300 AD
MK ~4200 AD
OS ~2000 AD
AMT ~1600 AD
YN ~1500 AD

MST - ~1000 AD (Decent growth in 09, but not enough to get that high on the list)

Yeah, that's why GM isn't in the top 5.
