I am looking for information regarding MST's in the reserves. Do all the USCG units have reserve units as well? If not, which ones have reserve units? What happens when a USCG reservist is activated? That is all for now. I really want to be a part of the Coast Guard, but I'm not sure if full-time is best right now in my life. If I am in the reserves and serve 4 years, can I still join as an active member when I am over 27?

With the exception of the Port Security Units, there are no "reserve" units in the CG. Reservists are assigned to regular CG units, but not all CG units have reservists assigned.

Marine Science Technicians are mainly assigned to marine safety-type units, mostly at major ports around the country.
