what an insult...the tattoo part No financial issues??? Last time I checked that's a CG standard. The other branches offer things to the likes of the blue angles for dog & pony shows, we get a unit that twirls rifles. I'm starving, did someone say "lunch"?

The new policy that came out 2 years ago adds hands, below the wrist bone. The intent of this change is to ensure that every member of the CG can appear in a service dress uniform w/o any visible tattoos. But...those who currently have tattoos on their hands will be grandfathered. I don't have a problem with folks serving in the CG with art work. I sort of see Alexandria going against CG policy and preventing a hard worker from doing that particular job. With over 1000 ceremonies annually including parades, funerals, White House dignitary arrivals, don't they wear white gloves anyway as part of their ceremonial uniform?

If you read the requirements, it states in tropical blue long. Believe it or not the honor guard are the most viewed people in the Coast Guard. The ceremonial uniform is not the only uniform used to conduct these ceremonies in. You seem to know quite abit about where the honor guard is and what they do. How is this?

I'll give you most the most viewed part but lets agree on what stands out in peoples memory the most. Katrina stands out clearly. Guardian/Perfect Storm, JFK, TWA 800, Exxon. I've never had someone come up to me and say I know about the CG cause I saw you guys marching in a parade. Might still be but the NAVCEN was a coop site from a past unit.
When I was a young kid all I knew about the CG were small boats 44's(Scituate,Ma,) & helo's flying up the coast from Cape Cod. Had no idea they had anything else till I was in HS and looking to get in. Didn't know about an honor guard till Charlie Co , Cape May and then recruited to go to Alexandria. Even now and I should know better but when I think of the guard the first thing that comes to mind is small boats and helo's. (crusty BM's and cowboy pilots) Peace, Dick
