I'm just wondering who you are if you've applied, where you're from, what your qualifications are, when you're sighned up to go and where, or what you've heard about it.
I'm C/Capt. Marsh, sophmore from SC-071. I'm a deputy sqd. commander, on every team our unit has, do an assload of color guards and participate anyway I can. My first choice was NM the week of June 23-29. One of my commanders went and had a lot of fun and got to go flying and launch rockets in AZ. |

I've also applied for the Aerospace and Technology Honors Camp. I'm a Sophmore, and have held the positions of Honor Guard Commander, Drill Team Commander, Flight Commander, Supply Commander, and have commandef a couple other specialized exhibition details. I take flight lessons too, and almost have my solo license.
I've applied for all three of the camp sessions at the University of Oklahoma. In addition to myself, two other cadets from my unit have also applied. The list of accepted applicants will be published on 15 March. Good luck (I'll sure as hell need it) C/Capt. Jeff Buck AR-053 |

The Colonel told me today that the list is to be published in the "middle of March", as opposed to the 15th exactly, so don't hold me to it. I could've sworn he said 15 March the first time around. Oh, well.

I asked Chief today and he said he heard the 20th. I suppose that it doesn't really matter though, cause they're gonna tell us when they tell us.

Congratulations. I also got accepted, but not to the Aerospace and Technology Honors Camp. On my application, I checked that "Yes, I'm interested in other honors camps" box. I was accepted to the Joint Service Senior Leadership Camp in Boswell, Pennsylvania, on July 15-21 2007, hosted by the Marine Corps JROTC.
100 cadets, 25 from each of the 4 branches of JROTC, were accepted. The JSSLC is held at an "outdoor adventure camp", and we get to go backpacking, rafting, ropes courses, rapelling, rock climbing, and a coulpe other cool things. The OIC is a retired Lieutenant General, who served 36 years in the Marine Corps. There will be PT in the morning, followed by leadership classes, and activities throughout the rest of the day. It's kind of a weird trade-off, but I'm happy, and honored to represent my unit. The two other cadets from my unit didn't get accepted, so I'm kinda bummed about that. We should all be proud that out Instructors thought us competent enough to travel to a different state, and wear our units name. 447 cadets were selected to attend these camps, so we should be proud. Anyway, best of luck to you guys, and let us know how it goes. C/Capt Jeff Buck AR-053 |

That sounds really great. I bet it'll be a lot of fun. We had another cadet apply too and he wasn't excepted either but I heard last year there were like 6 locations and there are only 2 this year, though it doesn't look like the numbers of excepted have changed.

I almost wish I hadn't checked that box. The Colonel said I'd have probably been accepted to the original camp if I hadn't. Either way, it will be an experience that we can use for the rest of our lives. Take care, and good luck.

I actually checked that box but guys it didnt matter if you did either, it depends on what carrer field you wanted to go into. I the air force4 didnt need it they sent you somewhere else. I got accepted and everyone that applied at my corps got accepted too. hope to see some of yall there.

Well, I did put that I wanted to be a Naval/Marine Aviator, or Air Force pilot. That's probably what did it. My Colonel was a member of the selection board a few years back, and said that my using the word "Marine" would probably decrease my chances of getting into the Air Force Camp, but I didn't want to be misleading on my application. I'm still kinda suprised that I got one of the 25 Air Force slots. Best of luck to you guys.

Yeah I checked the box too. I'm wavering between Marine Corps or AF and I desided that since I'm not sure I didn't want to put that on my application and insted desided to put something about wanting to serve regardless of job or branch.

I found out today that the I was selected to attend this summer is canceled for Air Force cadets. I guess the Air Force lost an Airman a few months back in some sort of joint operations meet or something, so the CMS of the Air Force issued a directive prohibiting Air Force participation in joint activities such as the Marine Joint Senior Leadership Camp. Instead, I'll be allowed to attend the Air Force camp at either the University of Oklahoma, or the University of New Mexico. Just bought all me stuff though, guess I'll be returning it. I was really looking forward to the Marine camp, but at least I have this camp to fall back on. I'll be going the 17th-20th of July, but I'm not sure which camp it is.
Anyway, see ya guys at camp, Buck |

Colonel got word a few days ago. I'll be be going to the sesstion at the University of New Mexico on July 22nd through the 27th. I'm glad I got a slot, but still bummed out that the Marine Camp was cancelled. Marsh: How's your unit briefing going? That bit's worrying me a little, as I truly cannot find anything unique about my unit.
Anywho, take care guys, Buck |

OH...****. I haven't even thought about it since inspection... Well I'm lucky, we had a former cadet KIA and our former Col organized a clean up of the school and created the "Celebrate Freedom Courtyard and Garden". It's been a big deal, we had the Deputy Commander of AFJROTC world wide show up for the dedication. I would suggest a uniquie community service project or a team's community impact that would probably be the easiest. Especially if it's helping to clean up or improve the community. One of our goals as a core was to collect old cell phones for recycling and send care packages to deployed Marines. Something like that is what I would suggest, hope that helps.

How did that marine camp get cancelled, I have cadets that are going and who just applied. They will be attending it in Washington, DC this summer and we are air force

Well, the deadline for applications was two weeks ago, and my Marine Camp was not in Washington, D.C. I was slotted to attend the Marine Joint Senior Leadership Camp in Pennsylvania. It was not a series of camps; there was one session with 100 cadets in Pennsylvania. You're most likely thinking about a different camp that the Marine Corps is somehow affiliated with. I would highly suggest you have your SASI check Cyber Campus because Air Force participation in other services' camps has been prohibited, thanks to a directive from the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. Unless I am vastly mistaken, all AFJROTC Units recieved the memo.
