please be patient with me, i'm new to this. i just want to ask the above question to all the military folks, you know the ones who stand up for this country and all of us in it. I watched Lou Dobbs this evening and discovered 32 of our elected officials voted AGAINST MAKING ENGLISH THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE. after all if we do this we can stop printing every piece of government dealings in 5 or 6 different languages, save money on all that. what do you folks think and will you contact your representatives to encourage them to do this?
Way back at the beginning of America when the first continental congress met, I recall being taught that Ben Franklin wanted the TURKEY to be our National Bird as he believed the eagle was a scavenger and not too polite in manners! He lost that one -- by alot of votes. He also wanted GERMAN to be our official language, given the high percentage of Germans already in America AND as a way to completely cut ourselves off from England. HE LOST BY ONE VOTE!!! OK, let's try again on German. Given that the HIGHEST ethnic percentage of Americans is GERMAN @ 38%, makeing GERMANS the LARGEST ETHNIC GROUP IN AMERICA, I suggest we make GERMAN the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE of AMERICA! So what if some people have to learn GERMAN as their new FIRST language? The screeching liberals are somehow getting away with printing that third rate language of spanish on ALL of our OFFICIAL documents, expecting all of us to learn this useless language by osmosis, sort of like when the liberals tried to ram foreign mesurements systems like milimeters, grams, etc., down our throats and FAILED!!! So who the hell gave anybody in the government to change MY US OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS AND STREET SIGNS to useless Spanish anyway? Nobody asked me!!! Here is a great idea: every chance you see that useless spanish language on anything, get out a magic marker -- PERMANENT -- scratch out the spanish, and write in any language with which you may be familiar! I speak pretty good GERMAN and I have a POST BOX. Everytime I get a yellow card in my box indicating that I have a package, I cross out that useless spanish and write in GERMAN for each direction line on the card! I also add that the larget (38%) number of America is of German extraction and I intend on using the language of THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS! I have even written to BOTH my state and federal "representatives" and sinators inn German AND LET THEM FIND SOMEONE TO TRANSLATE THE LETTER INTO ENGLISH!! And If I don't her from them soon enough, I send them a harsher letter, in GERMAN, advising them that I am in their district, I have voted in EVERY election since coming home from Vietnam, and expect timely replies IN MY LANGUAGE OF THE ETHNIC MAJORITY IN AMERICA!!!
It's great fun to see then try to squirm out of how spanish is one everything and GERMAN isn't and that not one of them knows how that happened!!!
Just as an "extra", I send a burnt match stick along with every letter I write, advising them --- in GERMAN --- that I am going to keep lighting a fire under their "public servant asses" until I get the LANGUAGE OF THE LARGEST ETHNIC MAJORITY -- 38% -- AS T OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF AMEICA!!!
