Hello everyone

My name is Michael Davis. I worked in support of the military and Intel community for 38 years and retired two years ago and started writing fiction. I would appreciate some help on terminology I'm using in my fourth novel. My wife and I worked on a military base many years ago and I remember a facility available to the military families were they could go work on hobbies or crafts. I like to be accurate in my stories, but I forgot the name they used to refer to the on base facility. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, don't worry. All my novels are pro military.

Thanx
Michael Davis

The ones I have used have been called Arts & Crafts or Galleries, they were usually run through Community Services, who also did Bowling, CDC, etc... If you want a link to one, send me a message and I can give you the one I have.

Navywifeinparadise, what does MWR stand for?

The hobby/A&C center used to have a name other than "The A&C" center. Its possible my era is too long ago. I stayed on Navy and Army bases back in the late 70s/early 80s. Its possible names have changed. Nothing stays the same in life. Guess I'm showing my age. Thanks.

MWR - Morale, Welfare and Recreation

I'm pretty sure we call them Skills Development Centers in the AF now.

I guess what era your book is set in will determine the name you need to use.

I'd rather be knitting.

There's only woodworking at the MWR in my area- but I've thought about starting a yarn crafting circle in my compound- I'm in mil housing at the moment.
