Okay, so in late March I am hosting a bridal shower with a "Bedroom" theme. Not just lingerie, mind you but bedroom in general - sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.

The bride and I have already planned a menu per her favorites - we're going with the dessert brunch sort of deal, like croissants, muffins, etc, and probably fruit and obviously a cake. My MIL has a fondue set so I may even break out some chocolate for the fruit.

My concern is decorating (hence the reason I am posting here Smile ). I was offered her pastor's wife's house, but I think I'm going to do it elsewhere where I can have a blank slate of a room. I saw some cool ideas online for decorating with like clotheslines with sheets and jammies hanging, pillows on the floor, food served on breakfast trays, etc. Any ideas to make all this "mesh"? I thought about doing the pillows and blankets in one corner/half of the room for gift opening and games, and then chairs and tables on the other half for eating, with the clothesline idea on just one wall so that it's not overkill.

That's pretty much all I've got right now. I know it seems way ahead of time to be planning, but I'm going out of town in January, then DH comes home on midtour in February, so I would like to have it all planned by my trip so that I can just send out the invitations, decorate the day of and be done. Smile

So - any ideas? For games, cute ways to serve food, a crafty idea for a cake, other decorating ideas??

If you could get a picture of the bedding set she has picked out on her registry, you could take it and have the cake made into the "bed" and the icing could look like her bedding. That might go on with the theme.
The breakfast trays are a good idea too!

Oh that is so cute!! I think her bedding is just basic blue, so that'd be pretty easy, then just have them put little white pillows up at the top. That's a great idea, thanks. Smile

I just helped my daughter host a Bridal Shower for my soon to be daughter in law. I hope I am not too late to offer a little advice.
We had a "spa" shower. I made the invitations on the computer and made up a little poem about "before Erin walks down the aisle we'll treat her feet and ours too!"
I bought dishwashing tubs from Walmart ($1.67/piece) and put marbles or smallish river rocks (from the bridal section at Hobby Lobby) in the tubs with homemade bath salts to smell good, some ladies wanted bubbles in their water to hide their feet while soaking. The homemade bath salts were ultra cheap, they were made from epsom salts with a few drops of essential oil (from Hobby Lobby) and food coloring. While the ladies tootsie were soaking, we went around the room and gave one bit of marital advice from each woman.
I put together little gift bags with foot care products in it, like a pretty pumice sponge (from the dollar store), extra virgin olive oil with a couple of drops of essential oil in it too, for moisturizing, a pretty little soap, a colorful poof for bathing, and a little bottle of toenail polish. The ladies all seemed to really enjoy the shower and commented on how much fun it was. It seemed to me that everyone really did relax after the initial embarrassment of taking off their shoes in front of others.
I love your decorating ideas, of sheets and jammies hanging on a clothesline! And the cake shaped like a bed was great too!
Good luck!

Don't forget the Andes Mints for the pillows. Big Grin Wouldn't you figure it would be me who thought of the sweet stuff. haha

At my baby shower they had the clothes line across the windows with the baby clothes that the host was giving me hanging on them. Maybe do candles and such as little accents and then she can take those home to. All to match her bedroom of course. But that would put a lot of money on you, so maybe you and a few girls get together and buy that stuff together.

I really like the bed cake idea. I may have to make one for matt for when he comes home..red velvet. hehehe

hello everyone,
I was just curious about weather or not the bridal shower was over or not. I thought I read in the post that it was in March this year, but I noticed some following posts after that. I've never heard of a "Bedroom" theme shower, so I'm curious of its turnout (mind you, I haven't been to many showers or anything).
Any updates?
Linda ... unique sorry no outside links

Hi Linda - the shower was indeed in March. We ended up ditching the generic bedroom theme and just went with a lingerie shower. We had a brunch with dark chocolate cupcakes, a cookie favor with a picture of the couple on it, and for games we had a word scramble with lingerie/"romance" related words, and then I contacted her fiance and asked him a few questions (i.e. how many kids do you want to have) and she had to guess his answers.

Some friends threw me a lingerie birthday party a few weeks ago, and I received lingerie, candles, and restaurant gift cards. They did appetizers, water, of course cake, and a hot fruity tea. For games, we just had sit down "talking" games over food. One was everybody had to write down a question, put it in a bowl then the bowl went around and everybody picked a question to personally answer (and they could guess who wrote the question for the heck of it). Then also she had everybody write down a little word of marriage advice/encouragement, and same thing everybody went around and read those. Both of those were fun ideas because it led to a lot of outside conversation.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of info you were looking for but I hope that helps!

(ignore the messed up cupcake liner please Smile )

(if I would have had time, I would have curled the crepe paper, or kept the whole long bundle and spread it out differently)
