Start with the on base MWR center, I am sure they have something similar going on and can give you an idea of the going rates.

I can tell you that personally, I would not pay for anything more than supplies/kits if I were to attend a workshop out of someone's home. If you want to provide refeshments than use a rotating system where everybody brings a dessert or appetizer to pass around.

there is a popular Home Based business that does scrapbooking and card making, and many Demonstrators hold these types of classes in their homes.. and they ONLY charge for supplies. the actual teaching of how to use the kits themselves is a service these Demonstrators provide at no cost. Now, it may cost $5 for the actual materials, and they charge $7.50 to cover the time it took to put the kits together and that I would have no problem with. saves me the cutting time not to mention the agony of deciding whether or not cyan goes with olive.

I don't scrapbook, but I would attend the card making parties.

Themes would include Birthday, back to school, pick a holiday(preferably one that's actually coming up) the Big Foot ball Game, Generic seasons.

January: Valentine's day or the Superbowl
Feb: Winter Wonderland
March: easter
April: Spring
May: Graduation
June: Weddings
July: Patriotic
Aug: Dog Days of summer
Sept: Back to School
Oct: Halowe'en
November: Harvest/thanksgiving
December: a generic(read: secular) Holiday look

Plus others like Our new Home, trips to the Zoo, the kids first swimming elssons.

once you get a feel for what interests your clients have, you can start to tweak, like if there a lot of toddlers, then perhaps " Junior's first Haircut" would be a good theme.

and of course you can't go wrong with the Army /Navy Game...
