Operation Babarossa began, and Germany took thier first step down the long path to defeat.

20 million Russian KIA. There were 1416 days between June 22, 1941 and May 8, 1945. That means the Soviet Union lost an AVERAGE of over 14,000 people for every day of the war.

Imagine the US suffering three September 11th attacks per day for 1400 days.

Is it any wonder they still refer to it not as a World War, but simply as 'The Great Patriotic War'?
