I found your achilles heel! It's the "suspended" button. Don't come back!

I'm going to have to go with the Waffen SS of WWII Germany. The normal feldgrau (field grey) uniforms are basically the same as the regular heer (army); which are amazing. However, they had thier own camo pattern apart from the army which is the best that I've ever seen.

I love our military and respect its great strength (much better than the German army of today), but I must say that our regular uniforms are quite lame compared to their uniforms. I'd be proud to wear it and all, but those plain polyester Class As and Bs just don't compare. Aesthetically speaking, we are probably the weakest army in the world. Of course, we have it where it counts. Smile

Never had much interest in how other guys looked.
We had to have really shiny leather, though. Roll Eyes

I guess it would depend on WHICH uniform you want to talk about, field or dress?

For over the top and completely silly, check out the post WW2 US army in Germany, with chrome helmets, white boot laces, yellow neckerchiefs, and pants so tight they couldn't sit down in them. Chocolate soldiers.

Yeah, the Zulu looked really nice, but can you take a half naked guy covered in feathers serious??

Never really noticed battle uniforms much, but I guess that is the point of them. The SS looked very professional while wearing thier black dress uniforms. US Marines in dress look very nice as well.

What do you mean, full dress, dress, combat, special duty uniforms etc. The US Army's and the US Marines dress blue uniforms are pretty snazzy as are the British full dress. Snazzy uniforms do not however indicate an military force's fighting ability. The Confederate forces of the civil war were pretty much a ragtag bunch by about 1863 but there wasn't anyone who knew better that doubted their fighting ability.

I'd like to know what people think for battle and for dress. Of course looks don't tell the whole story. I already indicated that in my first post.

Hmmm, I'm pretty partial to anything Prussian blue and 'feldgrau' (sp?) myself. I like the practical uniform over the dress type any day.

Britons and the Celts, without doubt.

TWO STYLES FOR EVERY SEASON (including winter)

Axe and Wode body paint
or
Spear and Wode body paint

Now fall in outside for indoctrination by the Druid Sarnt' Major who will get you p*ssed and in the mood for a good bereserker

Marine dress blues are probably the sharpest looking military uniform I've ever seen, but they they wear them for anything. To them it seems like going to take a dump is a special enough occasion. But hey, if you've got it flaunt it.

Army dress blues are a close second, but you really only see the Tomb guards at Arlington wearing them. That will change soon though, as the blues will now be the Army's official dress uniform. Too bad no one will be able to wear color unit patches anymore. Imagine the blues with jump boots and a maroon beret. That would look frickin sweet!

The "Winkie" uniform from "The Wizard of Oz" is kinda sharp. Valuable too!

I go with achilles on this one

As for fargodakota, just one remark: when in battle, the Zulu were almost naked - the feathers etc were ceremonial regalia and I can assure you, if you saw a zulu impi advancing naked or otherwise, you WILL take them seriously

Two others deserve mention: the Scots and samurai
