I leave for BCT at Benning on May 27th, and am looking forward to it more and more after reading about what Ft. Gordon is like. I have been reading about the tactical vs. strategic areas within 25S and was wondering if there is any choice, for example if I wanted to volunteer for tactical. Also, most of the horror stories about ft. Gordon I have been reading about on here seem to be from 2007. Anyone been there recently, has it gotten any better or is it not really as bad as people have been making it out to be? Just hoping its not that bad as I will be spending a considerable amount of time there. Basically any info on 25S would be appreciated, thanks for the time.

I was in a class of twelve and all of us went tactical. You have to have very high test scores in order to go strategic. I love tacsat though, if you want to make sure you go tactical just put in an airborne packet. If you have more questions email me at jonrowe2020@yahoo.com.

Hey Rowe! Anyway, to the first poster. You won't see a whole of 25S info here. There is quite a lot we can not discuss.

The above poster was a classmate of mine. We went through the same company at BCT. And as he can tell you, Ft. Gordon is not the happiest place on earth. Really, it isn't bad. He can tell you once you phase up and can leave post it gets better. You will live for your weekends.

The worst is when you inactive. Unless you get sweet duties. You'll make great friends, your classmates and room mates mostly. And some of it does suck, but you'll live.

And as he can tell you once you make it out to your real duty station or unit it gets better.

Besides right now there are lots of changes going on at Gordon. B Co. 551st is changing. It was our training company. New commander, NCO's changing, lots changing. I'd say on the whole it has gotten better again.
