My son asked me to send him another PDA / cell phone to replace the one that was stolen. I told him that I think he should use a very basic (and inexpensive) phone until he leaves AIT to reduce the chance it will be stolen again...He said that he doesn't think this will happen because he'll have his phone on him at all times, going forward. He said FOB is the only time they leave their belongings for any length of time. Supposedly from this point forward, they just do detail and attend classes.
Can someone confirm / deny this for me before I send him a replacement phone? Thanks!
He WILL do Capstone at the end of course and cell phones will NOT be allowed there. He will stay in the field Mon-Fri and not be at the barracks at night. That is a promise.

That won't happen, nothing will happen to the dirt bag thieves at Ft. Gordon, because the COC doesn't give a rat's a** about it, because the COC in the 15th Sig Bde is rotten from the top to the bottom, and the most rotten of the whole damn place is B/447 where they put the IET 25Bs, so anyone who has recently enlisted for that MOS has made an enormous error in judgment.
The 1SGT is an egotistical, self centered SOB who only gives a damn about himself. He spends much of his time talking about how he is going to be one of the youngest CSMs in the Army, but if the IET soldiers in the company have a problem like their possessions being stolen, other soldiers making noise all night, they are just told to "deal with it". The CO and the NCOs lie to the troops constantly. Want an example: they said they were going to have a remedial PT program for the PT holdovers, they were going to concentrate on PT several times a day, that was going to be the only focus for the group until they passed their PT test, it lasted less than a week and the PT holdovers were back to PT once a day and details for the balance of the day. Their plan now is to find an excuse to reclassify the PT holdovers to another MOS. Since these are all people who have passed their 25B academic training, and apparently the CO and 1SGT finaly figured out that they can't reclassify them for failing the PT test alone (which they threatened to do for a few weeks), their new plan is to find things to write them up for so that they can pull their clearance. Without a clearance you can't be a 25B, so you don't show up for formation, you get your clearance pulled (only if you are a PT holdover), now their latest plan is if your locker isn't squared away to their satisfaction they will write you up and pull your clearance (only if you are a PT holdover). I held a Secret or higher DOD security clearances for 20 years, I fail to comprehend what an orderly wall locker has to do with being qualified to hold a Secret clearance, but the weasels in the COC at Ft. Gordon think they have found their golden opportunity to reclassify these PT holdovers. Today's Army is a great place, dirt bag thieves can keep their clearances because the COC doesn't do squat to catch them, and they can pass their PT test, but if you can't pass your PT test they pull your clearance for having a messy locker - clear message here: it's more important to be good at PT than it is to be honest and trustworthy.
Is it any wonder that "The Fort Gordon Experience" would lead some IET soldier to think that all NCOs and Officers in today's Army are dishonest?
