I have read most of the topics relating to Signal Corps, most of the regarding AIT and MOS-I.. I have yet to see anything about what we would do in the real army. I currently work in the Orderily Room/Training Room at a Field Artillery unit under a position I was never trained for and have developed the reputation of being the go-to guy for anything our 100 soldiers needs.. I would like to know, with keeping OPSEC in mind, the day to day life as a 25B stationed both CONUS and OCONUS, be it stateside or iraq. I am currently working on pushing the paperwork through for my reclass from 13P - Fire Direction Specialist to 25B - Information Technology Specialist, my true passion is computers.. I am also a non-promotable SPC who will be attending WLC, formerly PLDC, September 11th.. any posts would be greatly appreciated!

Life as a 25B varies greatly. You can work in any unit. I know 25B's who work in TRADOC, FORSCOM, joint assignments, Ranger Battalions, SF groups, special mission units, etc.

Most 25B's are serving in units of action otherwise known as brigade combat teams. The vast majority of their tasks are help desk and desktop support. Few actually get to do the cool stuff like build servers, databases, configure routers, manage email servers, etc. The contractors, DAC's or warrants are doing that stuff.

I hope this helps.

Life as a 25B does indeed vary. I went from a post level DOIM working as a dispatched troubleshooter. Right to working as a personal communications NCO for a 4 Star. Computers are everywhere, granted alot of what we once did is beating devoured by civilian contractors with "longevity".

If you get into the MOS, and find you like the work, then try and get onto any of the "highspeed" commo teams. If you have the professional and technical prowess to survive, they are very rewarding and could potentially lead to very prosperous post-Army jobs. There is JCSE, JCU, direct GO commo support, Whitehouse comms, and numerous others. If you have any questions let me know, I will be more than willing to help.
