Any 25U's out there around the world, that would share there job experience, it would be appreciated. I am trying to get a handle on what all my son will be doing, and where.
He leaves for basic next week at Fort Benning, then to Fort Gordon sometime in August.
I have been reading ome blogs saying that the signal corps jobs are combining/changing. I work in electronics and do some networking in my job. would like some incite so to relate easier when he is going through AIT.

my son went through 25u training at gordon.then he went to benning for jump school after that he was sent to afghanistan. from what i have learned from talking with him he runs cable, builds towers, hooks up internet on computers, mans a retrans station, fills in as a 50 cal gunner in convoys, trouble shoots computer problems, just about anything that is needed. i have read on these threads about how 25U's end up doing everything that is needed and after talking with my son i believe it. he also enjoys everything that he is doing.

I am a 25u signal support specialist SGT US Army based at FT. Eustis, VA. I have worked to two signal MOS(jobs ie 25q or 25u). The 25u job is a interesting one, your son can be in the infantry with a radio on his back or fixe their computers. He will also be able to work a wide range of radios and other communications equipment. We are know as the jack of all trades in the signal world but the master of none. In short your son will be trained to operate and maintain different types of equipment so that the commanders and others in his unit can complete their mission. It's a very important position, one that takes a williness to learn and stay learning. 85% of the job is troubleshooting, that is our bread and butter. Everything that has power going through it, seems to be a job for a 25u.
