I've come back in after a big break in service and I'm having difficulty recreating my 201 file. I'm being asked to provide a DA Form 1059 from Ft Gordon (MOS 26Y), but I can't find one in my hard-copy records. There isn't even one in the microfiche I ordered from St Louis after I ETS'd.
Did Ft. Gordon give out 1059's for MOS-producing schools in 1985?
Apparently we were both in F-Troop at the same time. I was there from May 84 to March 85.
Anyway, what exactly is a DA Form 1059? Isn't a DD214 enough?
I'll look through my stuff and see if I can find one.
You might want to post this question at the armysatcom.com website. Alot of the alumni at that website were at Gordon in 1985. They might be some help.
Yup, I was F-Troop. I still have the company and battalion (Can Do Cobras) t-shirts somewhere in the house.
A DA Form 1059 is a Service School Academic Evaluation Report. The only one I have is for PLDC in 1988. The only thing I have in my own records from Ft. Gordon is my graduation diplomas from MOS 26Y and ASI P1.
I noticed in your profile you were at WHCA. The only person I remember that went to WHCA was Pete Wydra. We started school together, but I remember he was still waiting for his clearance when the rest of us left Gordon.
I was accepted for WHCA at Ft. Gordon, but turned them down. They didn't have any satcom slots and wanted me in their microwave group. Instead, I went to Landstuhl, where I ran into their recruiting team a year later. When I went into the auditorium to sign in, I asked if a particular female NCO was there. The male asked me how I knew her and I explained that she processed my application back at Ft. Gordon. Turns out he was her husband and he called back that night to confirm my story. She remembered me since not many people turn down the White House, especially after they granted me a TS clearance. Since I had already been through the process, my application was a slam dunk and joined their satcom section in Aug of 1987.
