I would like to do a Shadow Box for my father, he spent 1 year,7 months and 4 days in Vietnam, and I'd like to put something together to show that service. I have a copy of his DD-214, but he says there are awards that are not on the 214. Will a statement of service have them all? Also, why wouldn't the 214 have them? When I was a young kid he gave me most of his ribbons and shoulder patches, problem is I was a kid, I have some of the things, just not sure about all, that's where I need something to confirm. Any help would be appreciated.
He is right the dd214 has many medals on them that were awarded at the time,how ever since then Nam vets are athorized a few new awards check out a web site Medals .com they have the medals listed and also the patches also ,such as the 1st signal patch ,stratcom to mention a few.
