Enlisted today as 25U Signal Support Systems SP. 4yrs with $25,000 bonus.I wanted to go back to Aviation but no school slots that match up with WTC.Not a whole lot on here about the day to day but I guess that would depend on the unit you were at.Quick question about being deployed in this Mos, if assigned to an Infantry unit or Art do you spend time out and about in the field with the 11 series or 13 series soldiers? Another more blunt way of putting it( in harms way). This is the answer my wife is looking for, she wants to know how dangerous the job WHEN deployed to Iraq and A-stan.I,m leaving for WTC this week and start at Ft Gordon on Jan07.And from reading about Gordon is it any better ,training wise?

Ahh 25U is in transition from being in line units to being in support companies so depending on what unit you're stationed in you might be either. RTO (radio telephone operator) is a common task so you shouldnt be out on patrol unless you volunteer. You'll get a good workout as a TOC monkey, Fobbit fixer, and everyones friend prior to a mission as you check out all thier commo gear.

Put it this way, there is a 25U soldier in my brigade that is the brigade CSM's driver and on his PSD team (Personal Security Detachment) which rolls out daily. And in the same brigade there's another 25U soldier that sits in an Internet cafe all day and signs people in and out. So like it's been said, it all depends on the unit that you're assigned to.

25U is the best MOS the army has..hands down...
I was in 2nd ID as a 31U/25U ... and I was operating retrans stations most of the time, it really depends on what whe commander wants you to do. You could just as easily be a front-line RTO for a infantry commander.

LRFJR, I am leaving for Ft. Sill 8Nov., it sounds like we may be in the same WTC. I haven't been told when AIT @ Ft. Gordon will start. I am enlisting as 25Q.

My husband just got there, he's 25S and has a lot of buddies there who are 25U. I had heard the class has been delayed, but other than that all is good so far. He will be there forever, as the SSG said..LOL!
