I was just curious if ayone has done the new traing for 25Q and what its like, and also does anyone know which bases I have the best chance of doing my job and also cross training across the 25 series? I am really looking at Fort Bragg because I have a family and it seems like a good place for my wife and my daughter (lots of stuff to do) any insight would be apperciated. I have alreay enlisted and leave on 20090916 for basic im just trying to fin the best place for me and my family because I am going active duty
Only the Navy and Marines Corps have bases, you'll catch on.
You can put anything on your dream sheet, but the needs of the Army dictate where you'll get assigned. The needs are in order of priority: Deployed units, units getting ready to deploy, units in recovery mode from deployment, then every other unit.
Tropho bunnies spend lots of time in small teams manning sites.
Sorry about that, I do understand what your saying about the needs of the army but I kinda want to get some input on the army post that are family friendly and have things to do for wives and kids so I can request them for a chance along with my mos
volunteer for airborne, that will get you Bragg....otherwise you are going to the first deploying unit, no choice in the matter. everyone I know went to Korea, Bragg, Campbell or Gordon, with a couple lucky ones going to Lewis.
Fort Lewis gives you the best of all worlds, beaches, camping, technology, and fine arts, all within driving distance. If you get stationed here, it will most likely be in support of I Corps, which created a signal company about a year ago, and are now deployed. If, however, you do not wish to deploy immediately, I would recommend not adding Lewis to your wish list.
My big thing is doing my job and making sure my family is comfortable does this mean they had new equipment there? I just dont want to spend all my time doing busy work or things out my series (25) I dont mind doing patrols or gaurd duty im a marksmen i go to the gun range just not all the time if that makes sense

you just dont get to do what you want sometimes it never works out. lots of 25 series end up doing convoy ops or gate guard while being deployed. there are times we would love to have a good 25series running a radio instead of the 11b they put in there, plus that 11b is kinda ****ed he aint kicking in doors.
I hear what your saying I really hadnt lookt at fort Lewis that may be a possible wishlist spot I dont mnd the deployment and I have prepared my wife for it

I was a 25Q(31R). Trust me, you will want to work out of your MOS. And often. I think the training is split now, try for MSE, DGM sucks. I've done both. Avoid heavy tropo like the plague, light tropo(mickey mouse ears) isn't to bad. I spent three years in heavy(including jumping it all over Iraq during the invasion).
I really want lewis because they have that land warrior system there they are testing and that stuff is exciting to me being on the cutting edge also I am looking at doing airborne and ranger and it is all at that base
